https://www.frydge.uk/article-category/fridge-freezer-buying-guides How to Maintain a Frost Free Fridge and Freezer A frost-free refrigerator and freezer will eliminate the need to defrost manually. This can save you time, effort and electricity when compared to a traditional refrigerator/freezer. If you notice ice crystals on the packaging food, it could be damaged. These crystals could cause damage to your food and alter the texture of your food. Defrost The process of defrosting your freezer isn't exciting or enjoyable but it's an essential aspect of maintaining your fridge and freezer. Each when you open the freezer's door, warm air creeps in, causing moisture to condense and freeze on interior surfaces. This frost interferes the freezer's ability to regulate temperature, causing it to work more frequently and consume more energy. It can also affect food flavor and quality, and cause freezer burn. Defrosting a freezer naturally is the best option, but it can take a long time. If you want to speed up the process, a handheld steam cleaner or hairdryer can be used. Make sure to shut off and unplug the freezer, remove all frozen foods and clean up any spilled water before you start working. Make sure you have a towel, or a plastic liner ready before you begin the defrosting procedure. This will absorb any water that may spill. It's also a good idea to empty your freezer completely to allow you to reorganize any food leftovers and clear out expired or old items. Once the defrosting process is completed, be sure to thoroughly clean and dry the freezer prior to turning it on. Open and close the door to the freezer repeatedly to increase the temperature. Remove all drawers and shelves to make it easier to get access to the frozen ice. You can also lay very absorbent towels or newspaper on the floor to soak up any puddles that may form from melting the ice. While the ice is melting make sure you keep a warmed spoon or plastic spatula handy to break off any thick chunks t
