The miRNA profile was skewed toward a small number of species that have previously been shown to be involved in cancer initiation and progression, including miR-1246, miR-1290, miR-23a, and miR-205. By 2024, NASA's mission is to return to the Moon, and by 2028 create a sustainable presence. Long duration missions come with obstacles, especially when trying to create a sustainable environment in a location where "living off the land" is impossible. Some resources on the Moon can be recovered or resupplied; however, many resources such as those needed for sustaining life must be recycled or grown to support humans. To achieve sustainability, food and water must be grown and recycled using elements found within the habitat. NASA's current work focuses on food resupply and growing plants as supplemental nutrient content. This paper examines the possibility for using aquaculture systems to purify water while growing nutrient-rich species as food sources, which aquatic food sources would be ideal for a habitat environment, and which species might provide an ideal test case for future studies aboard ISS. The aquatic species should be rapidly grown with high protein content and low launch mass requirements. Although there are numerous challenges and unknown technology gaps for maintaining aquaculture systems in reduced gravity environments, the benefit of employing such systems would be of great advantage towards creating a sustainable presence beyond Earth's orbit for sustainable aquaculture.Nephrology nutrition encompasses therapeutic and preventive nutrition care for individuals through the life cycle and addresses a variety of kidney disorders. Most nephrology nutrition practice focuses on care of individuals with chronic kidney disease, those on dialysis, and recipients of kidney transplants. The Renal Dietitians Dietetic Practice Group, National Kidney Foundation Council on Renal Nutrition, along with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Quality Management Committee, have revised the Standards of Practice (SOP) and Standards of Professional Performance (SOPP) for RDNs working in nephrology nutrition. The SOP and SOPP for RDNs in Nephrology Nutrition provide indicators that describe three levels of practice competent, proficient, and expert. The SOP uses the Nutrition Care Process and clinical workflow elements for delivering patient/client care. The SOPP describes the following six domains that focus on professional performance Quality in Practice, Competence and Accountability, Provision of Services, Application of Research, Communication and Application of Knowledge, and Utilization and Management of Resources. Specific indicators outlined in the SOP and SOPP depict how these standards apply to practice. The SOP and SOPP are complementary resources for RDNs and are intended to be used as a self-evaluation tool for assuring competent practice in nephrology nutrition and for determining potential education and training needs for advancement to a higher practice level in a variety of settings. To examine the impact of adherence to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy on risk of stroke among a nationally representative sample of older adults with obstructive sleep apnea. We performed a retrospective cohort study among Medicare beneficiaries aged ≥ 65 years who were newly diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and had initiated CPAP (2009-2013). Monthly indicators of CPAP adherence included charges for machines, masks, or supplies and were summed over a 25-month follow-up to create a CPAP adherence variable. Stroke was modeled as a function of CPAP adherence using generalized estimating equations. We found that 5,757 beneficiaries met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final sample. Of these, 407 (7%) experienced stroke. After adjusting for demographic and clinical characteristics, CPAP adherence was associated with a reduced risk of stroke (hazard ratio, 0.98; 95% confidence interval, 0.96-0.99) over 25 months, indicating a 2% reduction in risk of stroke for each month of CPAP adherence.
