Certain offenders are more likely to be apprehended and prosecuted depending on the crime victim and methodology. In addition, there has been a lack of legislative action targeting cyber sextortion, which limits legal recourse available for victims. We discuss the contribution of this work to the broader literature on cyber sextortion and address some of the challenges that this crime presents to the criminal justice system.Past research has indicated that there is a relationship between pornography consumption and sexually aggressive behavior. This study sought to expand an understanding of that relationship by examining measures of masculinity among a sample of undergraduate heterosexual males (N = 152) along with pornography consumption variables to assess the predictive value that both pornography consumption and varying levels of masculinity have on sexual aggression. Linear regression analyses indicate that males who had higher scores on the Likelihood of Sexual Force (LSF) measure consumed pornography more often and were more likely to watch male-dominant pornography. In addition, males who had higher scores on LSF exhibited higher masculinity scores on two scales. Results are discussed in the context of the complexities of masculinity and pornography consumption and the implications for prevention programs on college campuses.Androgen-dependent LNCaP and androgen-independent DU-145 cells, were treated with different concentrations of ergosterol (15 µM and 25 µM) and its respective cell viability was measured by MTT bioassay. While ergosterol showed an antiproliferative effect on LNCaP, on DU-145 promoted cell proliferation. This differential effect suggests that the effect of ergosterol might be related to its ability to act as an Androgen Receptor ligand. In silico Molecular Dynamics simulations were performed to analyze the interaction mechanism between androgen receptor and ergosterol, in comparison with natural ligands, 5α-dihydrotestosterone and testosterone. Our model suggests that the binding of androgen receptor with ergosterol is thermodinamically feasible, which is concordant with our experimental results.Objective HELLP syndrome is a rare and severe pregnancy complication which exposes to severe maternal and fetal morbidity. Management of HELLP syndrome occurring before 34 weeks of gestation (WG) is still controversial but conservative management may be beneficial in patients with stable HELLP syndrome. The aim of the study was thus to identify which maternal and fetal prognostic factors could be predictive of HELLP syndrome evolution.Methods From 2003 to 2016, all patients with HELLP syndrome occurring between 26 and 34 WG were retrospectively enrolled. Study population was stratified according to obstetrical management. Patients in whom delivery was initiated within 48 h following diagnosis constituted the active management group. In the expectant management group, pregnancy was prolonged until maternal or fetal follow up indicated delivery.Results Ninety-nine patients were included in our study. Among them, 61 were managed expectantly. All the synthesised derivatives were tested for their cytotoxicity against HCT-15, HeLa and DU145 cell lines. Most of the compounds exhibited improved cytotoxic activity compared to the parent molecule andrographolide (1), as the compounds 10b, 10c, 10i, 10j, 11d and 11f showed significant cytotoxicity against three cancer cell lines. Except the compound 10b and 11d, all the compounds did not inhibit the normal cell line (VERO). Based on these studies isoxazole ester derivatives at C-14 of andrographolide with various substitutions promoting anticancer activities and better safety profiles. Further studies in this direction with improved water solubility and oral bioavailability are in progress in future.
