Uncorrected superior glenoid wear in patients managed with reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) can result in increased complications, including baseplate failure. The present study quantifies the clinical and radiographic outcomes of patients with Favard type-E1, E2, and E3 glenoid deformity who were managed with rTSA with use of a superior or superior/posterior augmented glenoid baseplate. We retrospectively reviewed the records for 68 patients with shoulder arthritis and Favard type-E1, E2, or E3 glenoid deformity who were managed with primary rTSA and a 10° superior augmented or 10° superior/8° posterior augmented baseplate. The mean duration of follow-up was 40 months (range, 24 to 85 months). Outcomes were assessed preoperatively and at the latest follow-up with shoulder range of motion and use of outcome scores including the Simple Shoulder Test (SST), University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, Constant score, and Shoulder Pain and Dit-term clinical and radiographic study demonstrated that shoulder arthropathy with superior glenoid wear patterns (Favard types E1, E2, and E3) can be successfully treated with rTSA with a superior or superior/posterior augmented baseplate. Compare the effectiveness of 1st-3rd generation cephalosporins (1st-3rdCE) to broad-spectrum antibiotics in decreasing surgical site infections (SSI) after pancreatectomy. SSI is one of the most common complications after pancreatic surgery. Various antibiotic regimens are utilized nationwide with no clear guidelines for pancreatectomy. As we await results of a recently initiated prospective trial, this study retrospectively evaluates over 15,000 patients using the same administrative data abstraction tools as in the trial. All relevant clinical variables were collected from the 2016-2018 targeted-pancreatectomy database from the American College of Surgeon National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. The aim of this study was to define whether rapidly reallocating health care workers not experienced with PP for performing PP in ICU is feasible and safe. In the setting of severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the use of prone and supine positioning procedures (PP) has been associated with improved oxygenation resulting in decreased mortality. This prospective cohort study conducted at a single regional university hospital between March 27 and April 15, 2020. Among 117 patients admitted to ICU, 67 patients (57.3%) presented with proven SARS-CoV-2 infection with severe ARDS requiring PP. After accelerated simulation training, 109 volunteers including surgeons, physicians, nurses and physiotherapists, multiple dedicated teams performed daily multiple PP following a systematic checklist.
