Signal transduction is essential for the survival of living organisms, because it allows them to respond to the changes in external environments. In artificial systems, signal transduction has been exploited for the highly sensitive detection of analytes. Herein, a remarkable signal transduction, upon ATP binding, in the multivalent fibrillar nanoaggregates of anthracene conjugated imidazolium receptors is reported. The aggregates of one particular amphiphilic receptor sensed ATP in high pm concentrations with one ATP molecule essentially quenching the emission of thousands of receptors. A cooperative merging of the multivalent binding and signal transduction led to this superquenching and translated to an outstanding enhancement of more than a millionfold in the sensitivity of ATP detection by the nanoaggregates; in comparison to the "molecular" imidazolium receptors. Furthermore, an exceptional selectivity to ATP over other nucleotides was demonstrated.Heat shock proteins play a crucial role in cellular development, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) has been localised in the human endometrium, where its immunoexpression changes during the menstrual cycle. Similar studies have not been done for the equid species, so the present study aimed to describe endometrial HSP90 immunoexpression in mare endometrium. Immunoexpression was localised in the basal region of the epithelial cells lining the lumen. Immunoexpression was greater during oestrus than during either dioestrus or anoestrus. During anoestrus, there was little immunostaining in the endometrium, suggesting that HSP90 is involved in the functional modulation of sex steroid receptors in cyclic mares. Indeed, the function of HSP90 as a chaperone in the folding of proteins, such as steroid receptors, might explain the greater intensity of immunostaining during the oestrus and dioestrus phases, compared the anoestrus period. We conclude that, in the mare, HSP90 plays a role in endometrial function and that further studies are needed to test whether it is important in pathological conditions as endometritis.Metal oxalate has become a most promising candidate as an anode material for lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. However, capacity decrease owing to the volume expansion of the active material during cycling is a problem. Herein, a rod-like CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O/rGO hybrid is fabricated through a novel multistep solvo/hydrothermal strategy. The structural characteristics of the CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O microrod wrapped using rGO sheets not only inhibit the volume variation of the hybrid electrode during cycling, but also accelerate the transfer of electrons and ions in the 3 D graphene network, thereby improving the electrochemical properties of CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O. The CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O/rGO electrode delivers a specific capacity of 1011.5 mA h g-1 at 0.2 A g-1 after 200 cycles for lithium storage, and a high capacity of 221.1 mA h g-1 at 0.2 A g-1 after 100 cycles for sodium storage. Moreover, the full cell CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O/rGO//LiCoO2 consisting of the CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O/rGO anode and LiCoO2 cathode maintains 138.1 mA h g-1 after 200 cycles at 0.2 A g-1 and has superior long-cycle stability. In addition, in situ Raman spectroscopy and in situ and ex situ X-ray diffraction techniques provide a unique opportunity to understand fully the reaction mechanism of CoC2 O4 ⋅2 H2 O/rGO. This work also gives a new perspective and solid research basis for the application of metal oxalate materials in high-performance lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. Abnormal fetal movements are implicated in joint pathologies such as arthrogryposis and developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Experimentally induced paralysis disrupts joint cavitation and morphogenesis leading to postnatal abnormalities. However, the developmental window(s) most sensitive to immobility-and therefore the best time for intervention-have never been identified. Here, we systematically vary the timing and duration of paralysis during early chick hip joint development. We then test whether external manipulation of immobilized limbs can mitigate the effects of immobility. Timing of paralysis affected the level of disruption to joints, with paralysis periods between embryonic days 4 and 7 most detrimental. Longer paralysis periods produced greater disruption in terms of failed cavitation and abnormal femoral and acetabular geometry. External manipulation of an immobilized limb led to more normal morphogenesis and cavitation compared to un-manipulated limbs. Temporary paralysis is detrimental to joint development, particularly during days 4 to 7. Developmental processes in the very early stages of joint development may be critical to DDH, arthrogryposis, and other joint pathologies. The developing limb has the potential to recover from periods of immobility, and external manipulation provides an innovative avenue for prevention and treatment of developmental joint pathologies. The aim of this study was to know the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on Spanish patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). This is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study. An anonymous online survey with 95 questions was distributed among patients. Responses were collected from 11 May 2020 to 20 July 2020. Of a total of 570 questionnaires received, 568 (99.6%) were considered valid for the analysis (mean age, 63.5 ± 12.5 years; 53% females). A total of 553 patients (97.4%) were aware of the COVID-19 pandemic and 68.8% were concerned about it; 95.6% took preventive measures. A total of 484 patients (85.2%) had no contact with cases of COVID-19, and only 15 (2.6%) had confirmed COVID-19. Although up to 72.7% remained active during confinement, 65.7% perceived a worsening of their symptoms. Spanish patients with PD perceived the COVID-19 pandemic with concern and responsibility.
