Level of Evidence 4.An association between acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been suggested. The cause of AMI is presumed to be atherothrombosis. In the present study, the primary objective was to assess incident AMI cases and the secondary objective was to estimate the proportion of myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) in patients with SLE. All Swedish patients with SLE without AMI before 1996 (n = 4192) were followed for 20 years in the national patient registry. For each SLE patient, 10 age- and sex-matched controls without SLE and AMI before 1996 (n = 41 892) were identified. Data from patients and controls with AMI after 1996 were linked with the Swedish coronary angiography and angioplasty register; 549 (13%) and 3352 (8%) first AMIs occurred in patients with SLE and controls, respectively. The incidence of AMI was 9.6 (95% CI 8.9-10.5) and 4.9 (95% CI 4.8-5.1) events/1000 person-years in patients with SLE and controls, respectively. The proportion of MINOCA was 10.8% in patients with SLE and 13.8% in controls (P = .261), respectively. In conclusion, the incidence of AMI is increased in a European population of patients with SLE but there is no indication that the proportion of MINOCA is increased in these patients.Sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides L., SB), as a multi-functional plant, is widely grown in Asia, Europe and Canada. The berries and leaves of SB contain a diverse array of health-supporting phytochemicals, which are also related to the sensory qualities of berry and berry products. This review summarizes the biologically active key-compounds of the berries and leaves of SB, their health-promoting effects, as well as the contributions to the sensory quality of the berries. The target compounds consist of sugars, sugar derivatives, organic acids, phenolic compounds and lipophilic compounds (mainly carotenoids and tocopherols), which play an important role in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant functions, as well as in metabolic health. In addition, these compounds contribute to the orosensory qualities of SB berries, which are closely related to consumer acceptance and preference of the products. Studies regarding the bioavailability of the compounds and the influence of the processing conditions are also part of this review. Finally, the role of the sensory properties is emphasized in the development of SB products to increase utilization of the berry as a common meal component and to obtain value-added products to support human health. Understanding patient-specific risk factors for complications of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is critical. Previous work has investigated such risk factors, but a population-based analysis has not been performed to date. This study analyzes the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) database to identify patient-specific risk factors associated with complications following ESS. A retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent ESS was conducted using the NSQIP database from 2011 to 2017. Patients were identified using CPT-codes for ESS procedures. The primary outcome analyzed was any postoperative complication. Simultaneous procedures with ESS were controlled for with regression analysis. Post-operative complications and 30-day readmission were evaluated using multivariate logistic regression controlling for age, gender, race, comorbidities (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, renalo understand this phenomenon. ESS is typically performed on a relatively young and healthy population. Women have a significantly lower risk of complications after controlling for comorbidities. Further analysis of gender-specific differences in surgical outcomes should be evaluated to understand this phenomenon.Several strategies have been studied to replace or decrease fat content in bakery products aiming improving their nutritional profile. This paper reviewed the effect of different vehiculization systems (hydrogels, emulgels and oleogels) as fat replacers in different types of bakery goods, focusing on technological and nutritional properties of the reformulated products. The most commonly used fat source for replacement purposes were vegetable oils with high monounsaturated fatty acid content, such as olive oil and canola oil (44% of the revised papers used them), whereas high polyunsaturated fatty acid content oils were used in 34% of papers. Oleogelation was the most frequent used method of oil structuring, using waxes and fibers as stabilizers. Reductions of total fat between 19% and 46% and saturated fatty acid between 33% and 87% were achieved, enough to reach the minimum legal limit to state nutrition claims, under the EU legislation, on several products. Sensory evaluation results showed that partially replaced products ( less then 75% replacement) were more appreciated by panelists than fully replaced ones. This review highlights the wide range of alternatives within gel-like fat replacers, that have potential to be applied in different bakery products and the challenge to produce nutritionally enhanced foods and technologically and sensory acceptable. Beyond aneurysmal occlusion, metallic flow diverters (FDs) can induce an adverse endovascular reaction due to the foreignness of metal devices, hampering FD endothelialization across the aneurysm neck, and arterial healing of intracranial aneurysms. Here, we evaluated the potential benefits of an FD coating mimicking CD31, a coreceptor critically involved in endothelial function and endovascular homeostasis, on the endothelialization of FDs implanted in vivo. Nitinol FD (Silk Vista Baby) and flat disks were dip-coated with a CD31-mimetic peptide via an intermediate layer of polydopamine.
