Premature ventricular complexes (PVC) may cause ventricular dyssynchrony and lead to left atrium and ventricle mechanical abnormalities. Although ventricular cardiomyopathy due to PVCs has been well studied, little is known about atrial adaptation to PVCs. To assess atrial and ventricular responses to PVC therapy. A significant increase in left atrial (LA) diameter (36.94 mm vs. 39.46 mm, p = 0.025) and reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (57.26% vs. 53.8%, p = 0.040) were noted in the observation group. There were no significant differences in supraventricular arrhythmic burden in the observation group and LA diameter and LVEF in the treatment group. Precordial T-wave inversion (TWI) is an important diagnostic criterion for arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC). This study aimed to characterize the initial repolarization features of definite ARVC in patients who first presented with right ventricular outflow tract ventricular arrhythmia (RVOT-VA) and TWI. Patients who presented with RVOT-VA and TWI ≥ V were retrospectively assessed. The initial characteristics of repolarization between patients with and without a final diagnosis of definite ARVC during follow-up were compared. TWI ≥ V was observed in 61 of 553 patients (mean age 44.1 ± 14.7 years; 14 men) with RVOT-VAs. In this study, we aimed to derive a new clinical risk index to predict AF in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) patients. In this retrospective cohort study we enrolled 3047 isolated CABG patients. A random sample of 2032 patients was used to derive a risk index for the prediction of post-CABG AF. A multivariate logistic regression model identified the independent preoperative predictors of post-CABG AF, and a simple risk index to predict AF was constructed. This risk index was cross-validated in a validation set of 1015 patients with isolated CABG. Post-CABG AF occurred in 15.9% and 15.7% of the patients in the prediction and validation sets, respectively. Using multivariate stepwise analysis, four preoperative variables including advanced age, left atrial (LA) enlargement, hypertension and cerebrovascular accident contributed to the prediction model (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve curve = 0.66). The effect of advanced age appeared to be dominant [age ≥ 75 years; odds ratio 4.134, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.791-6.121, p < 0.001]. Previous studies have reported a "body mass index (BMI) paradox" with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), whereby overweight patients are associated with lower mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of BMI on survival of patients with AMI supported with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Between May 2009 and July 2018, 60 patients with AMI who underwent ECMO were enrolled from a single center. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to determine a cutoff for BMI. Patients were divided into two groups normal weight (18.5 ≤ BMI < 23 kg/m , n = 27) and overweight (BMI ≥ 23 kg/m , n = 33). The composite outcome was all-cause mortality at 30 days. The overweight group was significantly younger than the normal weight group, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in electrocardiography before ECMO. Ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation occurred in 11 (33.3%) overweight patients, and asystole or pulseless electrical activity occurred in 10 (37%) normal weight patients.
