The Korea Football Association has selected 11 candidates for the vacant national soccer team head coach position following the firing of Klinsmann.

"We have held a power strengthening committee and discussed a total of 32 candidates, and after today's meeting, we decided to shortlist 11 candidates," said Jeong Jung-sung, chairman of the KFA's national power strengthening committee, at a briefing at the Football Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

"There are four domestic leaders and seven foreign leaders," Chung added.

Klinsmann was sacked after the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar in February, and the KFA began the search for a new national coach. On February 20, the newly formed Power Enhancement Committee, chaired by Jeong Jung-sung, announced plans to appoint a new head coach by May.

The next A-match window is in June, with a World Cup qualifier away to Singapore on the 6th and a home match against China on the 11th. If all goes according to plan, the June A-Match will be the debut of the new coach.

"First, we will interview seven overseas coaches non-face-to-face, and then we will interview domestic coaches," said Jeong Jung-sung, explaining that he hopes to appoint a coach by early to mid-May.
