In cells, Rho activity regulates actin cytoskeleton organization and actomyosin II contractility. Thus, class IX myosins regulate cell morphology, cell migration, cell-cell junctions and membrane trafficking. These cellular functions affect embryonic development, adult organ homeostasis and immune responses.
