We investigated the real-life feasibility of mandatory documentation of the indication for all hospital antibiotic prescriptions for quality evaluation purposes. A mandatory prescription-indication format was implemented in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of three hospitals using EPIC or ChipSoftHIX software. We evaluated the retrieved data of all antibiotics (J01) prescribed as empiric therapy in adult patients with respiratory tract infections (RTI) or urinary tract infections (UTI), from January through December 2017 in Hospital A, June through October 2019 in Hospital B and May 2019 through June 2020 in Hospital C. Finally, the combinational effects of TPD52 knockdown and HIF inhibition were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. The mRNA and protein levels of TPD52 increased in OSCC cells under hypoxia. However, the increase was independent of HIF transcription. Importantly, the observation was due to upregulation of mRNA stability by binding of mRNA to T-cell intercellular antigen (TIA) 1 and TIA-related protein (TIAR). Simultaneous knockdown of TPD52 and inhibition of HIF significantly reduced cell viability. Although human leishmaniasis cases in Thailand are mainly imported, autochthonous leishmaniasis has been increasingly reported in several regions of the country since 1999. Few studies have detected Leishmania infection in wild-caught sand flies, although these studies were carried out only in those areas reporting human leishmaniasis cases. The aim of this study was therefore to identity sand fly species and to investigate Leishmania infection across six provinces of Thailand. Species of wild-caught sand flies were initially identified based on morphological characters. However, problems identifying cryptic species complexes necessitated molecular identification using DNA barcoding in parallel with identification based on morphological characters.
