Research suggests that mindfulness practices can help to reduce the symptoms of ADHD like hyperactivity and inattention. The research shows that mindfulness meditation can improve on-task concentration and reduces the tendency to wander which allows the brain to control its impulses. It is important to note that the research on mindfulness is still ongoing and more studies are needed to confirm these findings. The practice of mindfulness can be used as alternative to stimulant or nonstimulant medications which are the most commonly used treatment for adults suffering from ADHD. It is important to keep in mind that mindfulness does NOT cure ADHD. It may take a while before you see the results.
