The purpose of this study wasto find out additional indications for multi-positional MRI in cervical degenerative spondylosis (CDS) patients. A total of 63 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy that underwent multi-positionalMRI and X-raywere included. Muhle's grade, C2-7 angle, and C7 slope were measured. Patients were assigned to the stenosis group (Group S) when Muhle's grades were increased by more than two or maximum grade was reached. Other patients were assigned to the maintenance group (Group M). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed. Statistical significance was accepted forpvalues of < 0.05. A total of 24 patients were assigned to the S group and 39 patients to the M group. MeanC2-7 angledifference in extension (eC27A) betweenS and M groups was 10.97° (p = 0.002). The mean inter-group difference betweenC2-7 angle in extension and neutral positions (e-nC27A) was 14.39° (p = 0.000). Mean C7 slopedifference in neutral position was - 6.53° (p = 0.002). Based on areas under ROC curves (AUCs), e-nC27A, eC27A, andnegative C7 slope had AUCs of 0.934 (95% CI 0.876-0.992), 0.752 (95% CI 0.624-0.880), and 0.720 (95% CI 0.588-0.851), respectively. The study included 34 participants (26 learners and 8 consultants) from tertiary ophthalmic centres. The participants were divided into groups A and B. Group A performed STB on the goat's eyes before using the silicone membrane simulator. Group B performed STB on the simulator and further proceeded to the goat's eye. Participants had to rate the anatomical similarity and feel of the texture for the simulator model on a scale of 0-10 and share their preference between the two models. In group A, the scores given to the simulator model and the feel of texture of layers were 8.05 ± 0.88 and 7.97 ± 1.07, respectively, and the scores given to the animal model and the feel of texture of layers were 8.11 ± 0.97 and 8.21 ± 0.88, respectively. Group B participants scored the simulator model and feel of texture of layers with 8.13 ± 0.95 and 8.25 ± 0.99, respectively. Overall, 89% participants preferred the simulator; the reasons included ease of usage, helpful warning system, absence of biological waste, and facility for repeatable training. For broader usage, further study involving higher number of participants is recommended.Most children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), in resource-limited settings (RLS), are diagnosed after the age of four. Our work confirmed and extended results of Pierce that eye tracking could discriminate between typically developing (TD) children and those with ASD. Innovative prevention strategies are therefore critical. Through an exploratory qualitative study, we examined the perspectives and experiences of teenagers and parents around meth prevention messaging formats and strategies. Teens and adults were recruited through middle and high schools, libraries, local sporting events, and word of mouth in three communities in North Idaho, May-September 2016. Guided by the theoretical framework of the Extended Parallel Process Model, we conducted focus groups and small group interviews (three teen; two adults). Using a deductive content analytic approach, we developed teen- and adult-specific codebooks, analyzed the transcripts with NVivo 12-Plus, and identified themes. Teens and adults were all acutely aware of meth use in their communities, personally knowing people who were addicted to meth, and all understood the oral ("meth mouth") and physical ("crank bugs") consequences of meth use. Three primary themes were identified, which focused on the effects of, addiction to, and messaging around crystal meth use. For teens and adults, images illustrating the effects of meth were least effective if they appeared unrealistic or comical. Teens resonated most with messages focusing on pain and vanity (bad teeth and breath), and there was consensus that showing teens images simulating changes in their appearance over time as a result of meth use in a clinical setting would be an effective prevention strategy. Teens and adults who had exposure to meth addiction in North Idaho felt that prevention messages focused on meth are imperative, given its high prevalence and deleterious effects. Future work will entail developing and testing a communication-based meth prevention strategy along with tailored messaging that can be used with teens in dental settings. Apolipoprotein (APO) A1, the main apolipoprotein of plasma high-density lipoproteins (HDLs), has several well documented cardioprotective functions. A number of additional potentially beneficial functions of APOA1 have recently been identified. This review is concerned with the therapeutic potential of all of these functions in multiple disease states. Knowledge of the beneficial functions of APOA1 in atherosclerosis, thrombosis, diabetes, cancer, and neurological disorders is increasing exponentially. These insights have led to the development of clinically relevant peptides and APOA1-containing, synthetic reconstituted HDL (rHDL) preparations that mimic the functions of full-length APOA1. APOA1 is a multifunctional apolipoprotein that has therapeutic potential in several diseases. Translation of this knowledge into the clinic is likely to be dependent on the efficacy and bioavailability of small peptides and synthetic rHDL preparations that are currently under investigation, or in development. Knowledge of the beneficial functions of APOA1 in atherosclerosis, thrombosis, diabetes, cancer, and neurological disorders is increasing exponentially.
