Neck injury is one of the most frequent spine injuries due to the complex structure of the cervical spine. The high incidence of neck injuries in collision accidents can bring a heavy economic burden to the society. Therefore, knowing the potential mechanisms of cervical spine injury and dysfunction is significant for improving its prevention and treatment. The research on cervical spine dynamics mainly concerns the fields of automobile safety, aeronautics, and astronautics. Numerical simulation methods are beneficial to better understand the stresses and strains developed in soft tissues with investigators and have been roundly used in cervical biomechanics. In this article, the simulation methods for the development and application of cervical spine dynamic problems in the recent years have been reviewed. The study focused mainly on multibody and finite element models. The structure, material properties, and application fields, especially the whiplash injury, were analyzed in detail. It has been shown that simulation methods have made remarkable progress in the research of cervical dynamic injury mechanisms, and some suggestions on the research of cervical dynamics in the future have been proposed.Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative illnesses (dementia) among the elderly. Recently, researchers have developed a new method for the instinctive analysis of AD based on machine learning and its subfield, deep learning. Recent state-of-the-art techniques consider multimodal diagnosis, which has been shown to achieve high accuracy compared to a unimodal prognosis. Furthermore, many studies have used structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure brain volumes and the volume of subregions, as well as to search for diffuse changes in white/gray matter in the brain. In this study, T1-weighted structural MRI was used for the early classification of AD. MRI results in high-intensity visible features, making preprocessing and segmentation easy. To use this image modality, we acquired four types of datasets from each dataset's server. In this work, we downloaded 326 subjects from the National Research Center for Dementia homepage, 123 subjects from the Alzheimer's Disease Neur an area under curve (AUC) of more than 89% for each dataset. For the EMCI versus LMCI group, the classifier achieved an AUC of more than 80% for every dataset. Moreover, we also calculated Cohen kappa and Jaccard index statistical values for all datasets to evaluate the classification reliability. Finally, we compared our results with those of recently published state-of-the-art methods. Although physical activity (PA) is a noninvasive and cost-effective method of improving the quality of health, global statistics show that only a few middle-aged and older adults engage in the recommended PAs. This is due to a lack of motivation and companionship. This study analyses the attitudes and self-determined motivation of Chinese middle-aged and older adults for PAs and their eagerness to participate in PAs such as sports, exercise, and recreational and cultural activities (RCAs), from attitudinal, eagerness, and motivational objectives of PAs perspective. A cross-sectional study was carried out on 840 middle-aged (35-54 years) and older adults (55+ years). To determine their attitude, eagerness, and self-determined motivation for PA, we used attitudinal, Eagerness for Physical Activity Scale (EPAS), and Situational Motivational Scale (SIMS). The data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0. The results show that 39.1% of the participants were not satisfied with PAs. Compared with females, males reporteof PAs. In recent studies, there has been a correlation of high plasma levels of factor VIII with thrombotic events. We present the case of a young man who exhibited multi-organ failure due to thrombotic storm. A 38-year-old male presented to the emergency department for progressive dyspnea and was diagnosed to have pulmonary embolism. The patient developed respiratory distress requiring intubation and was diagnosed with both an ST-elevation myocardial infarction and right cerebral infarction during the hospital course. The patient expired and autopsy revealed the cause of death to be myocardial, cerebral and renal infarction from widespread vascular thrombosis. Autopsy revealed cause of death to be elevated factor VIII associated thrombotic coagulopathy. Factor VIII level upon autopsy was 375% (55-200%). Although TS is rare, it can be lifethreatening if not recognized early. Survival depends on the prompt initiation and duration of anticoagulation.This retrospective chart review was undertaken to investigate the role of chiropractic intervention for patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Ten cases of patients with AIS, mean age 13.3 years, undergoing chiropractic adjustment were retrospectively evaluated. Chart review was performed to extract age, medical history and treatment intervention. The magnitude of scoliosis was quantified using the Cobb method on standing radiographs. A comparison of the measurements from pre- and post-treatment radiographs revealed that Cobb angle reduced from average 29.7° down to average 23.4° (average 21.2% correction). Improvements in spinal morphologies were observed in most curves (64%, n=9/14) and curve stabilization in the rest (36%, n=5/14). A better correction was obtained in cases of mild and moderate AIS. In terms of stabilizing progression (≤5o curve progression) or correcting curvatures (≥6° reduction), radiological changes were observed in all patients.
