In our previous study, it was found that dihydro-stilbene gigantol relieved hepatic inflammation in mice with CCl4-induced acute liver injury. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of arachidonate metabolic cascade in this process. Our results showed CCl4 activated AA metabolism with the evidence of cPLA2 phosphorylation, which was dependent on the MAPK/JNK activation. Pretreatment with JNK inhibitor SU3327 or gigantol abolished the cPLA2 activation, along with the attenuation of liver damage. Besides, gigantol markedly decreased immune cells activation. HM insulin has been suggested to accelerate intestinal maturation, thereby promoting feeding tolerance. Therefore, recombinant human insulin for enteral administration has been developed which might serve as supplement to HM or formula for preterm infants. However, the natural course of the HM insulin concentration directly following delivery is unknown, which hampers the development of dosage schedules in clinical trials. The aim of this study was to validate a method for insulin determination in small volumes of HM, and to assess the stability of HM insulin. The results showed that the HM insulin concentration can be measured rapidly and reliably by using an automated immunoassay. In addition, HM insulin is stable at 4 °C for at least 72 h, at room temperature for a maximum of 12 h, at -20 °C for at least 2.5 years, and during at least five freeze-thaw cycles.A non-transgenic approach based on RNA interference was employed to induce protection against tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) infection in tomato plants. dsRNA molecules targeting the cp gene of ToMV were topically applied on plants prior to virus inoculation. Protection was dose-dependent and sequence-specific. While no protection was achieved when 0-16 µg dsRNA were used, maximum rates of resistance (60 and 63%) were observed in doses of 200 and 400 µg/plant, respectively. For maternal education < high school, disparities compared to maternal college degree were higher in more recent birth cohorts. Among girls, this disparity cohort effect was evident at younger ages (at age 4, the disparity increased by 4 [0.1-8] percentage points per 5 birth years), while among boys it was larger at older ages (at age 16, the disparity increased by 7 [1-14] percentage points per 5 birth years).
