A new air and moisture stable antimony thiolate compound has been prepared that spontaneously forms stable hollow vesicles. Structural data reveals that pnictogen bonding drives the self-assembly of these molecules into a reversed bilayer. The ability to make these hollow, spherical, and chemically and temporally stable vesicles that can be broken and reformed by sonication allows these systems to be used for encapsulation and compartmentalisation in organic media. This was demonstrated through the encapsulation and characterization of several small organic reporter molecules.Interim crowns and partial fixed dental prosthesis materials generate exothermic heat during polymerization. The amount of heat transmitted to the pulp chamber can be a function of several factors, including the thickness and quality of the remaining dentin after crown preparation. The aim of this in vitro study was to measure with infrared thermography the temperature changes on the adjacent surface of the chamber roof of premolar teeth extracted from young and old patients (having different thicknesses of remaining dentin after crown preparation) during fabrication of provisional resinous restorations. Twenty extracted human first and second maxillary premolar teeth (10 from young patients, with a relatively large pulp chamber, and 10 from older patients, with a relatively small pulp chamber) were used. The roots were sectioned to expose the inner side of the chamber roof, and the crowns were provisionalized after preparation for a metal-ceramic crown. Two provisional materials, Turbo Temp 2 and Luxatemp Fluorescence, were used. Temperature changes on the inner side of the chamber roof were measured at 2-second intervals using an infrared thermal imaging camera. After completion of the temperature recordings, the teeth were sectioned and the remaining dentin thickness was determined. The older group (mean thickness 2.82 mm) and younger group (mean thickness 1.9 mm) differed significantly in dentin thickness (P 0.29 for the younger group). Dentin had a significant effect in limiting the temperature increase generated during polymerization of provisional materials, indicating good thermal insulating properties of this tissue. A remaining dentin thickness of 1.9 mm or more is sufficient to protect the pulp from any temperature increase during provisionalization using tested materials.Most cases of autoimmune hypothyroidism are due to Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT). It is sometimes difficult to distinguish HT from mucosa associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma using cytology or histology alone. This has necessitated the use of immunohistochemistry and other molecular techniques. A descriptive study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of MALT lymphoma and other associations of HT using histopathological and immunohistochemical methods. For testing of kappa and lambda antibodies, paraffin sections were prepared for immunohistochemical staining using a peroxidase-antiperoxidase immune complex method. Immunostaining in HT, demonstrated a polyclonal lymphoid population, as evidenced by dual positivity for kappa and lambda staining cells, whereas MALT lymphoma revealed a monoclonal lymphoid population, with strong positivity for kappa immunostaining and lack of lambda light chain expression. Among the benign conditions, nodular colloid goiter (7%) was more commonly associated. Interstitial lung disease (ILD) involvement is common in PM/DM. There is no evidence base for immunosuppression in DM/PM-ILD and current evidence is based on case stories and expert opinions. We present a 63-year-old male with severe respiratory failure due to PM-ILD who was treated successfully with intravenous immunoglobulin, recovered the acute phase and survived more than 4 years. The Swedish National Airway Register (SNAR) was initiated in 2013 to ensure and improve the quality of care for patients with asthma and COPD. To describe the development and design of SNAR, and to study the 2019 data to evaluate its potential utility related to improvement of quality of care. SNAR includes data from patients with asthma (both children and adults) and COPD from primary, secondary and tertiary care, and also, for COPD inpatient care. Data on diagnostic investigations (e.g. spirometry, blood sample, skin prick test), symptom-scores, comorbidities and prescribed treatments are registered. The registrations are entered manually by healthcare professionals, or directly transferred from electronic medical records to a web-based platform. In 2019, 1000 clinics participated and data were directly transferred by about 88% of them. The register included data on 205,833 patients with asthma and 80,372 with COPD (of these, 5% had both diagnoses). Registrations of new patients and follow-up visitser 270,000 individuals, and the register is important for patients, caregivers, authorities, politicians and researchers to evaluate the effect of treatment and to ensure high and equal quality of care nationwide.
