We examined 32 ash stands in Western Poland across soil fertility gradient. We established randomly selected circular plots (400 m2) in forests with ≥60% of ash in overstory species composition. We assessed natural regeneration density, the proportion of browsed trees, and trees damaged by ash dieback using generalized mixed-effects models. We found a higher proportion of damaged trees rowsing, affect ash regeneration.Emerging evidence suggests that perinatal dioxin exposure affects neurodevelopment and impairs multiple brain functions, including cognitive, language, learning and emotion, in the offspring. However, the impacts of gestational and lactational exposure to dioxin on behavior and related molecular events are still not fully understood. In this study, female C57BL/6J mice were orally administered three doses of 2, 3, 7, 8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) (0.1 or 10 μg/kg body weight (bw)) during the pregnancy and lactation periods. The locomotion, exploration and anxiety-related behaviors were examined by an open field test of the young adult female offspring at postnatal day 68. We found that the maternal TCDD exposure, particularly at a low dose, increased movement ability, novelty-exploration and certain anxiety-related behaviors in the offspring. Such hyperactivity-like behaviors were accompanied by the upregulation of certain genes associated with cholinergic neurotransmission or synaptogenesis in the offspring brain. In accordance with the potential enhancement of cholinergic neurotransmission due to the gene upregulations, the enzymatic activity of acetylcholinesterase was decreased, which might lead to excess acetylcholine and consequent hyper-excitation at the synapses. Thus, we found that gestational and lactational TCDD exposure at low dose caused hyperactivity-like behaviors in young adult female offspring and speculated the enhancement of cholinergic neurotransmission and synaptogenesis as potential molecular events underlying the neurobehavioral effects.Vegetation recovery and poverty alleviation are critical problems in the karst national designed poor counties (NPDC) in southwest China. However, little information is available about the relationship between poverty and vegetation dynamics in these areas. In this study, we used remote sensing and statistical datasets from 2000 to 2015 to identify the relations between vegetation dynamics and poverty among the NPDC in southwest rocky desertification areas. We estimated the vegetation dynamics using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index and poverty with the rural per capita net income. Local indicator of spatial association and the space-time transition type of poverty were applied to identify spatial patterns of the poverty spatial distribution relationship and transition. Also, poverty, natural and ecological governance factors were assessed using the Geo-detector method to uncover the driving factors of karst vegetation. The results showed that vegetation increased significantly (p less then 0.05) iIn water environment, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are biochemically dependent nutrients following the co-limitation concept for algae growth under mixotrophic mode. From a practical viewpoint, algae growth may not bring about significant change of the background nutrient concentration of an actual waterbody in contrast to a conventional batch system. In order to better understand the growth pattern of microalgae in aquatic environments, a series of experiments were conducted under stably controlled N-P levels for studying the N-P coupling effect on mixotrophic Chlorella vulgaris growth process, with attention paid to the physiological and biochemical characteristics. It was found that within the concentration range of N = 1-8 mg·L-1 and P = 0.1-1.0 mg·L-1, the variation of the N-P level slightly affected the specific growth rate, but significantly influenced nutrients uptake, biomass dry weight, chlorophyll contents of the grown C. vulgaris. The biochemical and elemental composition of the microalgae tended to be more sensitive to the N-P concentrations and ratios in the lower nutrient range (1-2 mg N·L-1, 0.1-0.4 mg P·L-1) in which the highest N and P conversion rates were gained as 90.18 ± 1.23% and 60.47 ± 1.59%, respectively. The P assimilation and conversion efficiencies were much affected by both N and P supplies, while the P supply showed little influence on N assimilation and conversion efficiencies. It was also noticed that the N level greatly affected the metabolic pathway involving nutrient assimilation, carbohydrate fixation and monosaccharide profile, resulting in conversion of the dominant fraction of protein at N ≤ 2 mg·L-1 into other biochemical compositions including lipids at N ≥ 3 mg·L-1. The fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) composition tended to differ with varied nutrient levels.
