For instance, they may lose track of the bills or forget about important meetings with their boss or other important people. They might even miss out on social gatherings due to being not able to keep and make plans. Untreated ADHD can also affect the performance of a person at work or in school, especially if it is co-occurring with other disorders like depression and anxiety. The negative emotions of these people can be exacerbated by their problems at home or work. This can create an endless cycle of mood fluctuations, poor performance and other problems. Another problem that is often encountered is impulsivity and difficulty regulating emotions. When someone with ADHD struggles to manage their emotions, they may have more trouble settling disputes or feel frustrated more frequently than other people. They might also be prone to overreact and act according to their emotions in ways that could be dangerous or even illegal. They might be at risk of developing addictions, which range from substance abuse to eating disorders and may have higher than average rates of traffic accidents or car accident violations due to the fact that they are more likely to drive recklessly.
