https://www.repairmywindowsanddoors.co.uk/fleet-french-door-repairs-near-me/ French Doors Repair French doors are a gorgeous addition to any home. They do require regular maintenance to function properly and avoid future problems. It's possible that the lock mechanism is blocked if the latch on your french door becomes stuck or doesn't lock. A simple fix may be as simple as lubricating the lock. Cracks and Chips Wooden doors serve many reasons in the home, such as the ability to separate rooms, ensuring privacy and letting natural sunlight into a home. Even the best-made doors are susceptible to physical damage, like cracks and dents. In some cases, damage can be so severe that the door frame has to be replaced. In some instances the damage is so minor that it can be repaired without the removal of the door. The majority of cracks are caused due to the natural shrinking and swelling of the wood due to changing humidity and temperature or due to a physical impact such as the door slamming shut. In the majority of cases, cracks can be fixed with either filler or wood putty. It is recommended to apply a paintable filler to match the color of your painted french doors. This product dries quickly and allows for easy and quick repainting so that your door can look like new. To apply the filler or putty first, clean the area around the crack and then place an untidy towel or a large clean rag on the floor to protect it from spilled filler and glue. Be sure to place the rag next to the door so that you are able to easily remove it when the filler has dried and you're ready to sand and repaint your door. Once you've decided on your filler, pour small amounts into the inside of each crack's ridges and smooth it with a putty knife. Let before sanding down and painting it again. For more extensive cracks that extend from the side of the door that is hinged to the jamb side of the door, you may have to repair a portion of the door frame, in addition to the damaged panel itself.
