Right ventricular (RV) apical pacing is associated with systolic dysfunction and heart failure. Paced QRS duration has been suggested as a predictor of heart failure and left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction. However, the effect of paced QRS duration on LV diastolic function is not well known. This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between paced QRS duration and LV diastolic function. This retrospective study included 88 patients who had chronic RV apical pacing. Myocardial relaxation was assessed with tissue Doppler imaging. Patients with severe valvular dysfunction or significant structural heart disease were excluded. Paced QRS duration was measured with standard 12‑lead ECG at follow-up. Median age of the patients was 65.9years (interquartile ranges (IQR), 56.5, 72.7) with 64.8% of female patients. Median duration of RV pacing was 8.6years (IQR, 5.3, 11.1). Major indication of RV pacing was complete atrioventricular block (89.8%), and dual chamber pacemakers were predominantly iure in patients with long paced QRS duration.An integrated nanocomposite system comprising of manganese oxide (Mn3O4) nanoparticles, functioning as a tumor diagnostic agent, in conjunction with polyacrylic acid (PAA) and ZIF-8, as pH-sensitive drug delivery agents, and methotrexate (MTX), operating as a tumor biomarker and a therapeutic agent (dual mechanism of action), is applied for both diagnostic intentions and controlled delivery of the drug. Physicochemical characteristics of the constructed system, Mn3O4@PAA@ZIF-8/MTX, are investigated by several methods, including X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemical techniques. The in-vitro magnetic resonance imaging measurements was performed to show the efficiency of Mn3O4@PAA@ZIF-8 nanocomposite as a contrast agent where a relaxivity (r1) of 3.3 mM-1 s-1 is found. The loading ratio was found as 161 % which is four times larger than the value obtained for Mn3O4@PAA system in the same conditions, indicating high capability of the system for MTX delivery. The application of the nanocomposite as a dual pH-sensitive nanocarrier for MTX is studied through in-vitro drug release experiments at pHs of 5.4, 6.8 and 7.4. Interestingly, the results show that a large amount of loaded MTX drug (53 %) is released from the system during incubation and dialysis at pH 5.4, compared with that (20 % and 15 %), respectively, released at pHs 6.8 and 7.4 at the same conditions. The affinity of Mn3O4@PAA@ZIF-8/MTX nanocomposite for capturing of BT-474 and MCF-7 cancer cells was evaluated via impedance spectroscopy measurements. The results show that GC-Mn3O4@PAA@ZIF-8/MTX electrode captures the BT-474 and MCF-7 cancer cells, respectively, by factors of ∼2 and 196 compared with L929 normal cells. In the present study, high quantum yielding zwitterionic carbon dots were synthesized, characterized and its safety assessment at different concentration ranges (50-1600 μgmL-1) on HEK 293 cells was carried out. Cellular, mitochondrial, lysosomal integrity and ROS generation were assessed using specific fluorochromes.The key cellular event apoptosis was assessed by annexinpropidium iodide staining using imaging flow cytometry. Moreover, the mRNA levels of the apoptotic genes were determined by real-time PCR. The results revealed that the cell viability assays (MTT, NR) and mitochondrial membrane potential were altered on exposure to a higher concentration of zwitterionic CDs for 24 h. Also, annexinpropidiumiodidestaining exhibited an increased percentage of apoptotic cells upon exposure to zwitterionic CDs at higher concentrations. Further, apoptosis was confirmed by significantlyincreased expression of pro-apoptotic gene (Bax) together with decreased expression of Bcl-2/Bax ratio.
