This study contributes to the understanding of these variables among healthcare professionals in Ecuador. These results should be considered when planning policies and prevention intervention efforts to promote professionals' wellbeing.Phagnalon saxatile subsp. saxatile is a wild species widespread in Algeria which is utilized for medicinal purposes as analgesic and anticholesterolemic. However, information is still scarce regarding its phytochemical content. The objective of this study was to identify and quantify the phenolic compounds from different extracts of its leafy stems. For this purpose, the effects of four extracting solvents were investigated on the content of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of this plant. The extracts prepared with polar solvents (methanol and water) contained higher amounts of phenolic compounds and showed better antioxidant activity than the extracts with apolar solvents (hexane, dichloromethane). The methanolic extract, richest in total phenolic and total flavonoid, had significant antioxidant activity as regarded by DPPH° scavenging capacity (IC50 of 5.5 µg/mL), ABTS+° scavenging capacity (IC50 of 63.8 µg/mL) and inhibition of oxidation of linoleic acid (IC50 of 22.7 µg/mL), when compared to synthetic antioxidants. Chlorogenic acids and several flavonoids were identified and quantified by UPLC-DAD-MSn. The di-O-caffeoylquinic acids isomers were the most concentrated phenolics (25.4 mg/g DW) in the methanolic extract.Glycophorins are an important group of red blood cell (RBC) transmembrane proteins. Monoclonal antibodies against GPA are employed in immunohistochemical staining during post-mortem examination Through this method, it is possible to point out the RBC presence in tissues. This experimental study aims to investigate anti-GPA immunohistochemical staining in order to evaluate the vitality of the lesion from corpses in different decomposition state. Six cases were selected, analyzing autopsies' documentation performed by the Institute of Legal Medicine of Rome in 2010-2018 four samples of fractured bones and three samples of soft tissues. For the control case, the fracture region of the femur was sampled. The results of the present study confirm the preliminary results of other studies, remarking the importance of the GPA immunohistochemical staining to highlight signs of survival. Moreover, this study suggests that the use of this technique should be routinely applied in cases of corpses with advanced putrefaction phenomena, even when the radiological investigation is performed, the macroscopic investigation is inconclusive, the H&E staining is not reliable. This experimental application demonstrated that the use of monoclonal antibody anti-human GPA on bone fractures and soft tissues could be important to verify whether the lesion is vital or not.The tick Amblyomma mixtum is an ectoparasite of veterinary and public health importance because of its role as a vector of zoonotic pathogens. However, little is known about A. mixtum intraspecific variability and if morphological differentiation exists between populations across its geographic range. This study aimed to determine by electron microscopy the morphological variability of A. mixtum populations in the state of Veracruz, which has a large livestock population among states in Mexico. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/oxythiamine-chloride-hydrochloride.html Forty male and 40 female A. mixtum collected from the 10 natural regions of Veracruz state were analyzed microscopically to accomplish main component analysis for each sex. Clusters were calculated with the out-tree method and a dendrogram produced to group the specimens according to their morphometric characteristics. Using 10 main components, 77% of the morphological variation of the ticks was explained. This is a reflection of scarce intraspecific variation between females. The dendogram for females grouped six clusters of specimens with similar characteristics. Morphometric variability in males was described using eight main components. Limited intraspecific variation was also observed between males. In males, the dendogram yielded six groups with similar morphometric characteristics. Morphometric analyses confirmed that the only species from the Amblyomma cajennense complex that are parasites to livestock in Veracruz state is A. mixtum. The eryxenous nature of A. mixtum combined with the frequent movement of livestock hosts may contribute to the apparent homogeneous phenotype of this tick species in Mexico. In this work, low-cost and readily available limestone was converted into nanolimestone chitosan and mixed with alginate powder and precipitate to form a triple nanocomposite, namely limestone-chitosan-alginate (NLS/Cs/Alg.), which was used as an adsorbent for the removal of brilliant green (BG) and Congo red (CR) dyes in aqueous solutions. The adsorption studies were conducted under varying parameters, including contact time, temperature, concentration, and pH. The NLS/Cs/Alg. was characterized by SEM, FTIR, BET, and TEM techniques. The SEM images revealed that the NLS/Cs/Alg. surface structure had interconnected pores, which could easily trap the pollutants. The BET analysis established the surface area to be 20.45 m2/g. The recorded maximum experimental adsorption capacities were 2250 and 2020 mg/g for CR and BG, respectively. The adsorption processes had a good fit to the kinetic pseudo second order, which suggests that the removal mechanism was controlled by physical adsorption. The CR and BG equilibrium data had a good fit for the Freundlich isotherm, suggesting that adsorption processes occurred on the heterogeneous surface with a multilayer formation on the NLS/Cs/Alg. at equilibrium. The enthalpy change (ΔH0) was 37.7 KJ mol-1 for CR and 8.71 KJ mol-1 for BG, while the entropy change (ΔS0) was 89.1 J K-1 mol-1 for CR and 79.1 J K-1 mol-1 BG, indicating that the adsorption process was endothermic and spontaneous in nature.Hybrid wheat breeding is one of the most promising technologies for further sustainable yield increases. However, the cleistogamous nature of wheat displays a major bottleneck for a successful hybrid breeding program. Thus, an optimized breeding strategy by developing appropriate parental lines with favorable floral trait combinations is the best way to enhance the outcrossing ability. This study, therefore, aimed to dissect the genetic basis of various floral traits using genome-wide association study (GWAS) and to assess the potential of genome-wide prediction (GP) for anther extrusion (AE), visual anther extrusion (VAE), pollen mass (PM), pollen shedding (PSH), pollen viability (PV), anther length (AL), openness of the flower (OPF), duration of floret opening (DFO) and stigma length. To this end, we employed 196 ICARDA spring bread wheat lines evaluated for three years and genotyped with 10,477 polymorphic SNP. In total, 70 significant markers were identified associated to the various assessed traits at FDR ≤ 0.
