However, there are substantial complications associated with articulating antibiotic hip spacers. Handmade and molded spacers have been shown to have higher rates of spacer fracture than antibiotic-coated prostheses (ACPs). The aim of this study is to review outcomes with an implant that is often categorized as an ACP spacer, the Zimmer-Biomet StageOne Select Femoral Spacer (ZBSO). A retrospective review was performed of 63 patients who underwent placement of a ZBSO. Patients were compared based on whether or not an extended trochanteric osteotomy (ETO) was performed using Fisher's exact and t-tests. Five patients were excluded due to lack of follow-up or death shortly after stage 1 surgery, leaving 58 patients. Spacer fracture was noted in 5 of 58 patients (8.6%). Sixteen patients underwent ETO and 25.0% suffered a spacer fracture compared to 2.3% without ETO (odds ratio 13.7, P= .0248). There wan ETO.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of lower dentures in the development of distally located stenoses of Wharton's duct and to further identify contributing factors to this mechanism. In a database of 352 patients with submandibular gland obstruction, three patients with four obstructed glands with stenosis of the ostium of Wharton's duct suspected to be caused by a lower denture were identified and further retrospectively analysed by studying medical records, operation reports, and clinical photographs. In all three cases, the causative lower dental prosthesis was implant-retained. All affected sublingual caruncles were in close relationship with the implants or the implant bar. Initially, all patients were advised to leave out the lower denture for a period of several weeks. One patient was free of symptoms after this period and did not develop any complaints after adjustment and replacement of t
