Repair of superior sinus venosus defect with high partially anomalous pulmonary venous connection (PAPVC) using an intracardiac baffle may be complicated by systemic or pulmonary venous pathway obstruction and sinus nodal dysfunction (SND). Our surgical strategy for repair of all types of superior sinus venosus defect has evolved chiefly to avoid the abovementioned complications and preserving the growth potential of the superior cavoatrial junction. Between 2007 and 2019, fifty consecutive patients aged 2 to 60 (mean, 17.6±16.7) years underwent repair of superior sinus venosus defect using the double-barrel technique as described. The anomalous pulmonary veins drained into the superior cavoatrial junction in 17 patients and more than 2 cm above the cavoatrial junction in 33 patients. There were no early or late deaths and no reoperations. At a mean follow-up of 103.9 (±50.2) months, all survived the operation, and actuarial freedom from SND was 97.9% (±standard error, 0.02%; 95% CI 0.86-0.99). This is a qualitative study that used focus group discussions and key-informant interviews to explore the views on pregnancy among rural communities in the Volta Region, identify the barriers in accessing ANC and skilled attendance birth and collect views on how to improve the access to maternal care services.Overall, the study argues that members of the community of the rural villages acknowledge the benefits of ANC and skilled delivery, and the potential risk related to home delivery. Plant AAPTs involved in phospholipid metabolism mediate diverse physiological processes; however, little is known about their functions in triacylglycerol (TAG) metabolism and seed germination. In the present study, we isolated and characterized two AAPTs, GmAAPT1 and GmAAPT2, from soybean (Glycine max). GmAAPT1 and GmAAPT2 exhibited strong similarity in their amino acid contents and expression patterns, and both were found to localize to the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. In vitro enzymatic analyses showed that GmAAPT1 and GmAAPT2 contributed to PC and PE synthesis and exhibited choline/ethanolamine phosphotransferase-like enzymatic properties. The overexpression of GmAAPT1 and GmAAPT2 in Arabidopsis led to reduced levels of seed TAG and polyunsaturated fatty acids and decreased seed germination under freezing stress. Together, these findings suggest that GmAAPTs mediate TAG metabolism and negatively regulate seed freezing tolerance. Women are becoming more prevalent in clinical neuropsychology, but gender bias and disparities persist across multiple professional domains. This study examined potential gender disparities in historical authorship trends across commonly read journals in clinical neuropsychology. Analyses were conducted on 10,531 articles published in six clinical neuropsychology journals from 1985 to 2019. Each author was coded as either a man or a woman using the OpenGenderTracking Project database. On average, women comprised 43.3% (±30.6) of the authors listed in clinical neuropsychology article bylines and were lead and/or corresponding author on 50.3% of these papers. Findings varied by journal, with having the best representation of women across several study metrics. Women comprised an increasing proportion of authors over time and the gender gap in clinical neuropsychology is smaller than was recently reported for the broader field of psychology; nevertheless, the recent rates of women as authors lag behin as frequently as men. This up-to-date systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to examine the predictive validity of the Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15) for screening depression in older adults aged over 65years. Electronic searches were performed on the MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and PsycINFO database using the following keywords depression, depressive disorder, major, geriatric depression scale, and geriatric depression scale short. The Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 was applied to assess the risk of bias in diagnostic studies. Thirty-one studies that included 8,897 older adults were analyzed. The pooled sensitivity of the GDS-15 was 0.80 (95% CI0.78 to 0.82), its pooled specificity was 0.79 (95% CI0.78 to 0.80), the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.89 (SE= 0.01) and the Q* value was 0.82 (SE= 0.01). The subgroup analysis revealed that the pooled sensitivity and specificity of the GDS-15 were higher in older adults with normal cognitive function than in those with cognitive impairment. These finding suggest that the GDS-15 may be more accurate for screening depression in older adults with normal cognitive function.
