We present an integrated delivery technology herein employing the aerosolized method to repurpose thioflavin S for imaging amyloid beta (Abeta) deposits in the retina as a surrogate of Abeta in the brain for early detection of Alzheimer's disease. The data showed that wild type (WT) mice also have Abeta deposits in the retinae, albeit much less than 5XFAD mice. Further, only in 5XFAD mice, significant Abeta deposits were found associated with retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in whole-mount and cross-section data. Furthermore, the fluorescent signal depicted from thioflavin S corroborates with Abeta immunohistochemistry staining information. Overall, this probe delivery via inhalation method is also applicable to other Abeta-binding molecules, such as Congo red, curcumin, and thioflavin T. Mechanisms regulating FXIII activation and its impact on fibrin structure in patients with acute VTE encompassing pulmonary embolism (PE) or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) are poorly elucidated. Reduced circulating FXIII levels in acute PE were reported over 20 years ago. Similar observations indicating decreased FXIII plasma activity and antigen levels have been made in acute PE and DVT with their subsequent increase after several weeks since the index event. Plasma fibrin clot proteome analysis confirms that clot-bound FXIII amounts associated with plasma FXIII activity are decreased in acute VTE. Reduced FXIII activity has been associated with impaired clot permeability and hypofibrinolysis in acute PE. The current review presents available studies on the role of FXIII in the modulation of fibrin clot properties during acute PE or DVT and following these events. Better understanding of FXIII's involvement in the pathophysiology of acute VTE might help to improve current therapeutic strategies in patients with acute VTE.Motor imagery (MI) is a classical method of brain-computer interaction (BCI), in which electroencephalogram (EEG) signal features evoked by imaginary body movements are recognized, and relevant information is extracted. Recently, various deep-learning methods are being focused on in finding an easy-to-use EEG representation method that can preserve both temporal information and spatial information. To further utilize the spatial and temporal features of EEG signals, an improved 3D representation of the EEG and a densely connected multi-branch 3D convolutional neural network (dense M3D CNN) for MI classification are introduced in this paper. Specifically, as compared to the original 3D representation, a new padding method is proposed to pad the points without electrodes with the mean of all the EEG signals. Based on this new 3D presentation, a densely connected multi-branch 3D CNN with a novel dense connectivity is proposed for extracting the EEG signal features. Experiments were carried out on the WAY-EEG-GAL and BCI competition IV 2a datasets to verify the performance of this proposed method. The experimental results show that the proposed framework achieves a state-of-the-art performance that significantly outperforms the multi-branch 3D CNN framework, with a 6.208% improvement in the average accuracy for the BCI competition IV 2a datasets and 6.281% improvement in the average accuracy for the WAY-EEG-GAL datasets, with a smaller standard deviation. Studies on the in vitro anticancer activity identified the Ru derivatives as the most potent, independent of their halido leaving group, while the Rh derivative was more active than the Ir analogue. This demonstrates that the metal center has a significant impact on the anticancer activity of the compound class.This study explored the associations of lifestyle, familial, and social factors with sleep habits in 1882 elementary school children, aged 6-13 years, from the Super Shokuiku School Project in January 2016. A survey assessed sex, grade, sleep habits, lifestyle, social background, and parental lifestyle. Bedtime "≥2200," wake-up time "≥0700," sleep duration " less then 8 h," and "daytime sleepiness" were defined as poor sleep habits; correlates were analyzed using logistic regression. Skipping breakfast was consistently significantly associated with poor sleep, especially among children with late wake-up times (adjusted odds ratio 5.45; 95% confidence interval 3.20-9.30). Excessive screen time was associated with late bed and wake-up times. Physical inactivity was significantly associated with daytime sleepiness.
