52 J g-1 K-1 for a wet sludge to 1.71 W m-1 K-1 and 0.78 J g-1 K-1 for a dry sludge respectively. The relationships between thermo-physical / mechanical properties and the water content / temperature of the sludge are established to be introduced in the created numerical drying model.Objective Management of patients after failed epilepsy surgery is still challenging. Advanced diagnostic and intraoperative tools including magneto-encephalography (MEG) as well as neuronavigation and intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iopMRI) may contribute to a better postoperative seizure outcome in this patient group. Methods We retrospectively analyzed consecutive patients after reoperation of failed epilepsy surgery for medically refractory epilepsy at the University of Erlangen between 1988 and 2017. Inclusion criteria for patients were available MEG, neuronavigation and iopMRI data. The Engel scale was used to categorize seizure outcome. Results We report on 27 consecutive patients (13 female/14 male mean age at first surgery 29.4 years) who had operative revision of the first resection after failed epilepsy surgery. An improved seizure outcome postoperatively was observed in 78% of patients (p less then 0.001) with 55% seizure free (Engel I) patients after a mean follow-up time of 4.9 years. In detail, 80% of lesional cases were seizure free compared to 59% of MRI negative patients. Localizing MEG spike activity in the vicinity of the first resection cavity was present in 12 of 27 patients (44%) corresponding to 83% (10/12) of MEG localizing spike patients having advanced seizure outcome after operative revision. Conclusion Re-operation after failed surgery in refractory epilepsy may lead to a better seizure outcome in the majority of patients. Preoperative MEG may support the decision for surgery and may facilitate targeting epileptogenic tissue for re-resection by employing navigation and iopMR imaging.Machine learning (ML) is the subfield of artificial intelligence (AI), born from the marriage between statistics and computer science, with the unique purpose of building prediction algorithms able to improve their performances by automatically learning from massive data sets. We reviewed the most significant evidence on ML in the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of bladder cancer, to find out if these intelligent technologies are ready to be introduced into the daily clinical practice of the urologist.Basic reproduction number R 0 in network epidemic dynamics is studied in the case of stochastic regime-switching networks. For generality, the dependence between successive networks is considered to follow a continuous time semi-Markov chain. R 0 is the weighted average of the basic reproduction numbers of deterministic subnetworks. The remarkable effect of arsenic trioxide (ATO) was verified, but elevated gamma-glutamyltransferase (GGT), aminotransferases (ALT and AST) are generally observed in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) patients undergoing ATO treatment. Inhibition of topo IIβ activity causes shorter axons and deteriorated neuronal connections common in neurodegenerative diseases. We previously reported that topo IIβ silencing could give rise to neurodegeneration through dysregulation of Rho GTPases and may contribute to pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. Although there are several studies available proposing a link between Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Rho GTPases, there have been no reports analyzing the topo IIβ-dependent association of PD and Rho GTPases. Here, for the first time, we identified that topo IIβ has a regulatory role on Rho GTPases contributing to PD-like pathology. We analyzed the association between topo IIβ and PD by comparing topo IIβ expression levels of Retinoic Acid (RA) and Brain-derived neutrophic factor (BDNF) induced and MPP+-intoxicated SH-SY5Y cells used as an in vitro PD model.
