The goal of the study was to investigate the patterns of needs in older individuals with mild-to-moderate dementia living at home using the Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly questionnaire. This was a cross-sectional study. A total of 378 home-living residents served as the sample. The Camberwell Assessment of Need for the Elderly questionnaire was used to analyze the needs of those receiving adequate interventions (met needs) and those without appropriate supports (unmet needs). Thereafter, the factors that correlated with total needs were determined using demographic characteristics. Persons with dementia (PWD) had a mean care needs of 18.5 ± 5.4 (range 5-35). Unmet needs were most common in caring for someone (65.1%), looking after the home (63.5%), self-care (58.7%) and intimate relationships (44.4%) domains. Higher needs were significantly related to living with others than a spouse, longer length of diagnosis, older age and higher cognitive function. Identifying discrete dimensions that underline negative symptoms in First Episode Psychosis (FEP) could improve the understanding and the treatment of such invalidating symptomatology. The aim of this study is to examine the negative symptom structure in FEP individuals and to compare the resulting factor configurations between FEP subjects with and without Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders (SSD vs non-SSD). One hundred and seventy participants (88 SSD and 82 non-SSD), aged 13-35 years, completed the Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Mental States (CAARMS) and the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). A principal component analysis was then performed to investigate PANSS negative symptom structure in both non-SSD and SSD groups. However, the mechanism by which MdCoL could produce the columnar trait is unclear. Here, we show that MdCoL influences ABA biosynthesis through its interactions with the MdDREB2 transcription factor. Expression analyses and transgenic tobacco studies confirmed that MdCoL is likely a candidate for control of the columnar phenotype. Furthermore, the ABA level in columnar apple trees is significantly higher than that in standard apple trees. A protein interaction experiment showed that MdCoL interacts with MdDREB2. Transient expression and EMSA assays demonstrated that MdDREB2 binds directly to the DRE motif in the MdNCED6 and MdNCED9 (MdNCED6/9) gene promoters, thereby activating the transcription of these ABA biosynthesis genes. In addition, a higher ABA content was detected following co-overexpression of MdCoL-MdDREB2 when compared with the overexpression of MdCoL or MdDREB2 alone.
