Over 6 months, the usefulness of D-dimer screening alone is better for DVT detection.We aimed to investigate whether statin therapy is associated with the incidence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among the South Korean population. In addition, we examined whether statin therapy affects hospital mortality among COVID-19 patients. The National Health Insurance Service (NHIS)-COVID-19 database in South Korea was used for data extraction for this population-based cohort study. A total of 122,040 adult individuals, with 22,633 (18.5%) in the statin therapy group and 101,697 (91.5%) in the control group, were included in the analysis. Among them, 7780 (6.4%) individuals were diagnosed with COVID-19 and hospital mortality occurred in 251 (3.2%) COVID-19 cases. After propensity score matching, logistic regression analysis showed that the odds of developing COVID-19 were 35% lower in the statin therapy group than in the control group (odds ratio 0.65, 95% confidence interval 0.60 to 0.71; p less then 0.001). Therefore, this critical review article was attempted to delineate the underlying role of micronutrients (minerals and vitamins) for the management and prevention or delaying of HT and their related complications with strong affirmation from clinical trials as well as its mechanism of controlling BP. Moreover, the major source and recommended daily allowance (RDA) of various micronutrients are included in this review for guiding common readers (especially HT subjects) and dieticians to choose/recommend a better micronutrient and their combinations (other nutrients and standard anti-hypertensive drugs) for lowering the risk of HT and its related co-morbid conditions like CVDs.(1) Background Radiation-induced sarcomas (RIS) are rare diseases with poor prognoses. The aim of the study was to analyze outcomes and identify factors affecting survival in a cohort of patients with RIS. (2) Methods We included consecutive patients with RIS that we found in the available electronic medical records of a sarcoma tertiary center. We analyzed patients' RIS characteristics, management of RIS, the occurrence of local recurrence and distant metastases, the date of disease progression, the date of death, and the date of the last follow-up. (3) Results Fifty-eight patients met the inclusion criteria. The most frequent sites of RIS development were the thorax and pelvis. The majority of RIS were poorly differentiated, high-grade tumors. Forty patients underwent surgery or radiotherapy with curative intent. The others were referred to palliative chemotherapy. Median progression-free survival and overall survival were 15 and 21 months, respectively. Treatment with curative intent and tumor localization on breasts and upper extremities were associated with a lower risk of death in univariate analysis. (4) Conclusions The study confirms the poor prognosis of RIS. Treatments with locally curative intent at the tumor site are of prognostic value. The present study analyses the concentrations of 17 elements in locally resourced seaweed, also assessing potential noncarcinogenic and carcinogenic risks. The samples were ground, homogenized, and quantified using the ICP-OES technique. It has been found that the essential elements K, Ca, Mg, Zn, and Na typically show concentrations somewhat greater than a number of potentially toxic metals, in particular, Cd, Pb, Ag, and As, with exceptions being Ni, Cr-VI, and Si. Statistical analysis indicates all of the latter to have similar origin, with increased concentration of these metals within the marine ecosystem. While the daily estimated intake of most metals is seen to be within the daily dietary allowance level recommended by various international organizations, the noncarcinogenic risk shows a value greater than unity, estimated via the hazard quotient.
