The government rapidly initiated a public health response and provided adequate medical care to manage the public health crisis during the implementation of movement restrictions, starting 18th March 2020, throughout the country. The objective of this study was to investigate the relative efficiency level of managing COVID-19 in Malaysia using network data envelopment analysis. Malaysia state-level data were extracted from secondary data sources which include variables such as total number of confirmed cases, death cases and recovered cases. These variables were used as inputs and outputs in a network process that consists of 3 sub processes i) community surveillance, ii) medical care I and iii) medical care II. A state-level analysis was performed according to low, medium and high population density categories. The efficiency level of community surveillance was highest compared to medical care processes, indicating that the overall inefficiency is greatly influenced by the inefficiency of the medical care processes rather than the community surveillance process. Results showed that high-density category performed well in both community surveillance and medical care II processes. Meanwhile, low-density category performed better in medical care I process. There was a good overall performance of the health system in Malaysia reflecting a strong preparedness and response level to this pandemic. Furthermore, resource allocation for rapid response was distributed effectively during this challenging period. To evaluate the safety and feasibility of treating stage I-IV endometriosis patients with robotic single-site surgery (RSSS). A retrospective chart review was conducted on 334 patients with endometriosis treated by a single surgeon at a university hospital from January 2015 to November 2019. Surgeries were performed in a single institution between 2015 and 2019. All patients presented with pelvic pain and underwent surgical resection of the lesion. American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) standards were used to classify endometriosis. The primary goal of this study is to investigate the feasibility and safety of RSSS for surgical resection of stage I-IV endometriosis patients. We will compare patient characteristics and surgical parameters, such as blood loss, operating time, and postoperative complications, across different endometriosis stages to evaluate the effectiveness of this novel technique. RSSS was used for all cases, with no conversions to laparotomy or traditional laparoscopy. One to two additional ports were placed in 41 patients with deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) involving the colorectal and urinary tract and/or extensive pelvic adhesions. Across patient groups, there were no significant differences in age, BMI, fertility history, abdominal surgery history, and hysterectomy ratio (P > 0.05). The median operation time was 140.25 min (range 85.50-260.00 min, P  less then  0.05) and median blood loss was 31.25 mL (range 15-100 mL, P  less then  0.05). Histopathology supported the diagnosis in 259/334 patients. The undiagnosed patients were associated with lower ASRM scores. For 83.3% of patients (295/334), the length of hospital stay was  less then  24 h. The postoperative complication rate was 6.0% (20/334), although only two cases were severe. Our results indicate that RSSS is an alternative, safe, and acceptable platform for the surgical treatment of all stages of endometriosis. Few data are available quantifying the proportion of amyloid deposition in renal biopsy specimens. The aim of the study is to investigate the correlation between the proportion of amyloid deposition in renal biopsy and clinical characteristics of Chinese patients with immunoglobulin light-chain amyloidosis (AL amyloidosis). 259 patients diagnosed with renalAL amyloidosis between 2003 and 2015 were studied retrospectively. We developed a digital, automated quantification method to evaluate amyloid deposits in glomeruli, vessels and interstitium on digital whole-slide images (WSIs). The associations between the proportion of amyloid-positive area in the renal biopsy and clinical manifestations were analyzed. The proportion (%) of amyloid-positive area in glomeruli, vessels, interstitium and the whole renal tissue were 11.81 ± 11.38, 14.14 ± 14.05, 3.34 ± 5.36 and 4.25 ± 5.77, respectively. The proportion of amyloid deposition in glomeruli, vessels and interstitium was positively correlated with serum creassessing risk of outcome of AL amyloidosis. To evaluate anatomical and visual outcomes in patients who received intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agents in combination with full-dose photodynamic therapy (PDT) on eyes with choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to naive pachychoroid neovasculopathy (PNV). Medical records on 19 eyes of 19 patients whom intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB), intravitreal ranibizumab (IVR), and intravitreal aflibercept (IVA) injections were administered for CNV caused by PNV were enrolled into the study. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/p22077.html The central macular thickness (CMT), best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), and subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) were recorded at the baseline, months 1, 3, 6, 12, and final control visit following treatment. The age average was 53.84 ± 5.23years (range, 46-62years), and mean follow-up time was 33.42 ± 9.43months (range, 16-49months). The change in BCVA was found statistically significant in the IVA group only during follow-up visits (p = 0.007). Although there was no statistically significant change in CMT following IVR (360.60 ± 75.64-252 ± 75.04µm) (p = 0.077), significant changes were observed in IVB (397.14 ± 122.59-275.28 ± 63.82µm) (p = 0.004) and IVA (385.85 ± 43.82-244.42 ± 51.57µm) (p = 0.005) between the baseline and the final visit. SFCT significantly decreased following both IVR and IVA treatments (p = 0.016, p = 0.039, respectively). In consideration of the number of injections, significantly fewer injections were needed in the IVA group than the others (p = 0.018). Anti-VEGF agents with full-dose PDT were well tolerated for the first 3months and were highly effective treatment option in order to naive PNV patients. However, in long-term follow-ups, the effectiveness of IVA was superior to other anti-VEGFs.
