Our findings provide candidate DRB1 alleles and autoallergen epitopes that will guide future studies exploring the relationship between DRB1 subtype and autoreactivity in AD. There are a limited number of population-based studies on the association between psoriasis and dementia. This study aims to investigate the risk for dementia in psoriatic patients. This nationwide population-based cohort study was based on data obtained from the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database between 2000 and 2012. A total of 111,825 patients with psoriasis and 111,825 age-, sex-, and index date-matched controls were recruited. The hazard ratio (HR) for subsequent dementia in patients with psoriasis was analyzed using a Cox model and a Fine-Gray competing risk model. During 1,358,774 person-years of follow-up, 2688 patients developed dementia in the psoriatic cohort, and 2062 developed dementia in the control cohort. In the multivariate adjusted Cox model, the hazard ratio (HR) of psoriatic patients for dementia was 1.02 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.96-1.09] relative to the controls. Psoriasis did not increase the risk for dementia (both vascular dementia and degenerative dementia). In the competing risk model, the HR of dementia was 0.96 (95% CI 0.90-1.02) for psoriatic patients. Compared to psoriatic patients who had not received phototherapy or systemic treatment, those psoriatic patients receiving phototherapy or systemic treatment had a lower risk for dementia. However, this phenomenon was not observed in psoriatic patients who were observed for longer than 6 years. Psoriasis was not found to be a risk factor for dementia. Phototherapy and systemic treatment might not have a protective effect against dementia in psoriatic patients.Tomato is an excellent model for studying fruit development, ripening, and other secondary metabolic pathways such as carotenoid biosynthetic pathway, flavonoid pathway, and many more. Tomato fruit development and ripening occurs under tight genetic control and involves the expression of thousands of genes affecting fruit quality and accumulation of pigments and metabolites. Here, we have described the development of a microarray platform that has allowed establishment of a framework for quantification of the expression of large number of genes and transcription factors possibly regulating various secondary metabolic pathways in tomato. To unravel the molecular mechanisms of fruit development and ripening, a tomato 60-mer oligonucleotide 44 K microarray along with the custom array for many genes and transcription factors was designed and validated in the fruit and leaf tissues. Comparative profiling of gene expression studies has allowed us to identify a large number of differentially expressed genes and transcription factors. Gene ontology revealed the involvement of these genes in various biological, cellular, and molecular processes like isoprenoid, terpenoid, pigment, ethylene biosynthesis, phytohormone signaling, and fruit ripening. Further, correlation, as well as differential expression studies, has revealed that several transcription factors like RIN, AGAMOUS, TAGL1, MYB, MADS-box etc. could be the possible regulators of various secondary metabolic pathways. The present study has identified various metabolites, their biosynthetic pathways and genes which may possibly be controlled by different transcription factors. Therefore, in contrast to other sporophytic structures of this family, osmophores do not seem to have any systematic value.PURPOSE The objective was to evaluate the local treatment efficacy of transarterial ethanol ablation (TEA) as compared to radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for small hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a retrospective study between January 2005 and April 2017, in which the treatment outcomes of all patients who received either percutaneous TEA or RFA for HCC tumors of size ≤ 3 cm, of Child-Pugh grade A or B, received no prior treatment other than surgical resection, were compared. For TEA, a mixture of absolute ethanol and ethiodized oil at a proportion of 12 by volume was administered superselectively into the tumor via a microcatheter placed at the feeding arteries. The TEA group and the RFA group consisted of 68 consecutive patients (88 treated target tumors) and 129 consecutive patients (129 tumors), respectively. RESULTS Technical success was achieved in all the target tumors in both groups. Grade 3 complication (CIRSE Classification) of prolonged fever occurred in 3 cases with multi-focal and large tumors in the TEA group.
