This study reports the optimization of culture conditions and medium components of M9, an endophytic strain of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, which we had previously isolated from kiwifruit, and evaluation of its effect on kiwifruit postharvest protection against soft rot. The method of one-factor-at-a-time was used to determine the optimum culture conditions, and response surface methodology was applied to optimize the medium constituents. After optimization, a high rate of antifungal activity (73.12% decrease in decay rate) by M9 culture filtrate against the soft rot fungal pathogen, Botryosphaeria dothidea, was obtained. Compared with the initial culture conditions, the antifungal activity of M9 culture filtrate was increased by 19.5%. Furthermore, a postharvest storage experiment on kiwifruit showed that M9 culture filtrate could maintain the quality of stored kiwifruit, delay fruit senescence, and significantly enhance the storability of kiwifruit. Using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, we found thadvanced strategies for the postharvest protection of kiwifruits.To investigate the associations between subjective perception of impacts and willingness to change dietary habits in China after experiencing the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), an online questionnaire survey was carried out and 22,459 respondents in mainland China participated in the study, with an average age of 27.9±7.8 years old. Of them, 84.5% self-reported epidemic concern (middle or above), and 60.2%, 66.3% and 66.8% self-reported impact (middle or above) on psychology, life, work respectively. 31.9%, 46.0% and 41.0% of respondents reported their willingness to reduce their dietary intakes of salt, fried foods, and sugary foods, respectively. The stratified analysis of multinomial logistic regression models showed that, respondents with higher psychological impact were more likely to increase their dietary intake of salt, fried foods, sugary foods. Except as aforesaid, most respondents with higher epidemic concerns and higher impacts on psychology, life, work were more likely to reduce eating salt, fried foods, sugary foods. After the epidemic, early stage of positive improvement to a proper diet was observed, whereas the opposite tendency was also found in some respondents with higher impact on psychology. Thus, there is an urgent need for health care and lifestyle intervention policies for different subgroups. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of ten weeks of different running-retraining programmes on rearfoot strike (RFS) prevalence in adolescents. it is possible to change foot strike pattern in adolescents? A total of 180 children (45.3% girls), aged 13-16 years, participated in this intervention study. The children were randomly assigned to one of three experimental groups (EGs) that each carried out a different retraining programme, based on running technique (n = 39), a 15% increased step frequency (SF) (n = 37) and barefoot training (n = 30), performed for three days each week. A control group (CG) (n = 43) did not perform any retraining. A 2D video-based analysis (240 Hz) was used to determine the RFS. At baseline, no significant differences in RFS prevalence were found between the EGs and the CG in either the left (χ = 2.048; p = 0.559) or the right foot (χ = 0.898; p = 0.825). In the post-test, no significant differences were found for the left foot (χ = 7.102; p = 0.069), but there were significant differences for the right foot (χ = 9.239; p = 0.025) were observed. In the re-test, no significant differences were found for either the left foot (χ = 2.665; p = 0.273) or the right foot (χ = 2.182; p = 0.325). In addition, no group displayed significant changes in RFS prevalence from the pre-test to the re-test. Anterior lumbar spine surgery (ALSS) requires mobilization of the great vessels, resulting in a high risk of iatrogenic vascular injury (VI). It remains unclear whether VI is associated with increased risk of postoperative complications and other related adverse outcomes. The purpose of this study was to (1) assess the incidence of postoperative complications attributable to VI during ALSS, and (2) outcomes secondary to VI such as procedural blood loss, transfusion of blood products, length of stay (LOS), and in hospital mortality. Retrospective propensity-score matched, case-control study at 2 academic and 3 community medical centers, PATIENT SAMPLE Patients 18 years of age or older, undergoing ALSS between January 1st, 2000 and July 31st, 2019 were included in this analysis. The primary outcome was the incidence of postoperative complications attributable to VI, such as venous thromboembolism, compartment syndrome, transfusion reaction, limb ischemia, and reoperations.
