In this study, the structural, elastic, and thermodynamic properties of DO19 and L12 structured Co3X (X = W, Mo or both W and Mo) and μ structured Co7X6 were investigated using the density functional theory implemented in the pseudo-potential plane wave. The obtained lattice constants were observed to be in good agreement with the available experimental data. With respect to the calculated mechanical properties and Poisson's ratio, the DO19-Co3X, L12-Co3X, and μ-Co7X6 compounds were noted to be mechanically stable and possessed an optimal ductile behavior; however, L12-Co3X exhibited higher strength and brittleness than DO19-Co3X. Moreover, the quasi-harmonic Debye-Grüneisen approach was confirmed to be valid in describing the temperature-dependent thermodynamic properties of the Co3X and Co7X6 compounds, including heat capacity, vibrational entropy, and Gibbs free energy. Based on the calculated Gibbs free energy of DO19-Co3X and L12-Co7X6, the phase transformation temperatures for DO19-Co3X to L12-Co7X6 were determined and obtained values were noted to match well with the experiment results.Drought is the most serious abiotic stress, which significantly reduces crop productivity. The phytohormone ABA plays a pivotal role in regulating stomatal closing upon drought stress. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/cmc-na.html Here, we characterized the physiological function of AtBBD1, which has bifunctional nuclease activity, on drought stress. We found that AtBBD1 localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm, and was expressed strongly in trichomes and stomatal guard cells of leaves, based on promoterGUS constructs. Expression analyses revealed that AtBBD1 and AtBBD2 are induced early and strongly by ABA and drought, and that AtBBD1 is also strongly responsive to JA. We then compared phenotypes of two AtBBD1-overexpression lines (AtBBD1-OX), single knockout atbbd1, and double knockout atbbd1/atbbd2 plants under drought conditions. We did not observe any phenotypic difference among them under normal growth conditions, while OX lines had greatly enhanced drought tolerance, lower transpirational water loss, and higher proline content than the WT and KOs. Moreover, by measuring seed germination rate and the stomatal aperture after ABA treatment, we found that AtBBD1-OX and atbbd1 plants showed significantly higher and lower ABA-sensitivity, respectively, than the WT. RNA sequencing analysis of AtBBD1-OX and atbbd1 plants under PEG-induced drought stress showed that overexpression of AtBBD1 enhances the expression of key regulatory genes in the ABA-mediated drought signaling cascade, particularly by inducing genes related to ABA biosynthesis, downstream transcription factors, and other regulatory proteins, conferring AtBBD1-OXs with drought tolerance. Taken together, we suggest that AtBBD1 functions as a novel positive regulator of drought responses by enhancing the expression of ABA- and drought stress-responsive genes as well as by increasing proline content.Microinjection molding is a novel frontier polymer processing strategy different from conventional ones. In this paper, three different cavity-sizes of micro-mold tools were firstly fabricated, and the influences of micro-mold cavity dimension on the phase morphology structure, crystallization and orientation, and mechanical performance of the microinjection molded polylactic acid (PLA)/polycaprolactone (PCL) blend microparts were carefully investigated accordingly. The results show that the reduction of the cavity size would result in much higher shear stress field and cooling temperature gradient, which is advantageous to the fibrillation and orientation of PCL-dispersed phase. Consequently, with decreasing the micro-mold cavity dimension from length 26 mm to 15 mm, the interfacial compatibility is improved, significantly increasing number of PCL fibers with smaller diameter are in situ formed in PLA matrix and their orientation degree also obviously increases, which is verified by SEM and 2D-WAXD measurements. The Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) analysis shows that the decrease in cavity dimension causes the enhancement of PLA crystallization property due to shear-induced crystallization, which is reflected by the decreasing PLA cold crystallization temperature and increasing PLA crystallinity (almost doubling that of conventional macropart). As a result, the dynamic/static mechanical property measurements exhibit that with decreasing the cavity size, the storage modulus, and the loss modulus of PLA/PCL blend micropart increase, and the corresponding tensile strength, elongation at break, and Young's modulus also present an obviously increasing tendency. The related investigations would provide some new spaces and insights for realization of high-performance of PLA/PCL blend micropart. In order to improve the reliability and service life of vehicle and diesel engine, the fatigue life prediction of the piston in a heavy diesel engine was studied by finite element analysis of piston, experiment data of aluminum alloy, fatigue life model based on energy dissipation criteria, and machine learning algorithm. First, the finite element method was used to calculate and analyze the temperature field, thermal stress field, and thermal-mechanical coupling stress field of the piston, and determine the area of heavy thermal and mechanical load that will affect the fatigue life of the piston. Second, based on the results of finite element calculation, the creep-fatigue experiment of 2A80 aluminum alloy was carried out, and the cyclic response characteristics of the material under different loading conditions were obtained. Third, the fatigue life prediction models based on energy dissipation criterion and twin support vector regression are proposed. Then, the accuracy of the two models was verified using experiment data. The results show that the model based on the twin support vector regression is more accurate for predicting the material properties of aluminum alloy. Based on the established life prediction model, the fatigue life of pistons under actual service conditions is predicted. The calculation results show that the minimum fatigue life of the piston under plain condition is 2113.60 h, and the fatigue life under 5000 m altitude condition is 1425.70 h.
