Results The literature reveals different protocols that provide for bone reduction with a variety of bone reduction methods. The digitally-planned surgical guide based on Cone-Beam computerized tomography (CBCT) scan reconstructed data can improve accuracy, reduce surgical time, and deliver the desired bone level for the implant placement with fewer surgical and restorative complications. The clinician's choice is based on personal experience, training, and comfort with a specific guide type. Conclusions Bone reduction, when required, is an indispensable step in the surgical procedure to attain suitable width of bone in anticipation of implant placement ideally determined by the desired tooth position and required restorative space based on material selection for the chosen framework design, i.e., hybrid, monolithic zirconia. Additionally, bone reduction and implant placement can be accomplished in the same surgical procedure, minimizing trauma and the need for two separate interventions.The discovery of novel antiparasitic drugs for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) constitutes a global urgency and requires a range of innovative strategies to ensure a sustainable pipeline of lead compounds. Thus far, primaquine (PQ) is the only transmission-blocking antimalarial that is clinically available, displaying marked activity against gametocytes of all causative species of human malaria (Plasmodium spp.). Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, is another PQ-sensitive illness besides malaria. One of the major drawbacks of PQ is its metabolism into carboxyprimaquine (CPQ), which is less active than the parent drug. In this study, we developed different synthetic pathways to confer N-protection to PQ through introduction of thioxo-imidazolidin-4-one. The introduction of this group prevents the formation of CPQ, counteracting one major drawback of the parent drug. After that, we evaluated the potential biological activity of the novel 2-thioxo-imidazolidin-4-one derivative of PQ, which showed relevant in vitro activity against Trypanosoma cruzi (IC50 1.4 μM) compared to PQ (IC50 1.7 μM) and the reference drug benznidazole (IC50 1.6 μM). New preservation protocols are urgently needed, requiring an in-depth understanding of ischemia-reperfusion mechanisms. We performed a proteomic analysis using LC-MS/MS-TOF data analyzed through R software and Cytoscape's ClueGO application, comparing the proteome of kidney endothelial cells, key cell type, subjected to 3, 6, 12, 19, and 24 h of cold ischemia and 6 h reperfusion. Critical pathways such as energy metabolism, cytoskeleton structure/transport system, and gene transcription/translation were modulated. The objective of this study was to compare the yield of khellin and visnagin obtained using different conventional solvents and supercritical fluid extraction (SCFE) with carbon dioxide (containing 5% methanol as co-solvent). Water, acetone and ethanol (30% and 95%) were selected as conventional solvents. Highest extract yield was obtained from 30% ethanol (15.44%), while SCFE gave the lowest yield (4.50%). However, the percentage of furanochromones were highest in SCFE (30.1%), and lowest in boiling water extract (5.95%). This review aims to summarize available case reports describing patients with brain tumors showing psychiatric symptoms before brain tumor diagnosis, in order to provide a comprehensive description of these symptoms as well as their potential relationship with delay in the diagnosis. A systematic literature review on case reports of brain tumors and psychiatric symptoms from 1970 to 2020 was conducted on PubMed, Ovid, Psych Info, and MEDLINE. Exclusion criteria comprised tumors not included in the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification 4th edition and cases in which psychiatric symptoms were absent or followed the diagnosis.
