An increase of cultural minorities in the United States heightens issues for wellness disparities. Global service-learning provides an immersion in a community to spot issues related to culture and wellness. This study reports medical students' experiences related to participation in an international service-learning task. A qualitative phenomenological design had been used. Twenty members whom immersed in the community for 9 times were interviewed. Two semistructured focus interviews were sound taped, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis. This knowledge highlights the needs of diverse communities and improves members' abilities to produce culturally competent care with better education, compassion, and interaction. By exploring students' experiences, service-learning experiences might be better grasped as a pedagogy for teaching cultural competency and increasing health results in diverse populations.
