To investigate the correlation between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) and mortality among peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. We retrospectively reviewed the data of 269 PD patients in our center from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2018. Subjects were divided into groups according to serum 25(OH)D level based on a cut-off of 20 ng/ml. The general linear regression model was employed to explore the correlation between 25(OH)D and baPWV. The correlation between 25(OH)D and mortality was examined in Cox proportional hazards models. The mean (±SD) concentration of serum 25(OH)D was 17 (±7.2) ng/ml. Using linear regression analysis, and after adjusting for possible confounders, serum 25(OH)D concentration was found to be negatively associated with baPWV(β = -0.35, p < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that lower 25(OH)D level was significantly associated with higher total mortality in PD patients(< 20 ng/ml vs. ≥ 20 ng/ml; HR, 2.27; 95% CI, 1.04-4.93; P = 0.04)(as a continuous variable; HR, 0.94; 95% CI, 0.90-0.98; P = 0.01). We systematically studied the clinicopathologic and genetic features of lipoblastomas arising in older children and adults. Cases with a diagnosis of lipoblastoma or maturing lipoblastoma in patients >3 years of age were retrieved from our archives. Immunostaining for CD34 and desmin and molecular studies (FISH, RNA sequencing) were performed. Twenty-two cases (8F; 14M) were identified in patients ranging from 4 to 44 years of age (median 10 years). Sites included extremity (n = 15), head and neck (n = 4), and trunk (n = 3) with tumor sizes varying from 1.6 to 17.5 cm (median 5). Only three tumors had histologic features of "conventional" lipoblastoma. The majority of tumors (n = 14) were composed of variably sized lobules of mature adipose tissue partitioned by thin fibrous septa ("maturing"). Here, using the ecological replicate system of dove wing and body lice (Insecta Phthiraptera), we show that species with higher dispersal abilities exhibited increased genomic signatures of introgression. Specifically, we found a higher proportion of introgressed genomic reads and more reticulated phylogenetic networks in wing lice, the louse group with higher dispersal abilities. Here we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) with 450,243 UK Biobank participants to uncover its genetic architecture. A total of 1059 conditionally independent variants from 799 loci were identified at the genome-wide significance level (p  less then  5 × 10-9), all of which were also significant at p  less then  5 × 10-5 in both sexes. These variants explained ~15.5% of the phenotypic variance, accounting for more than one quarter of the total ~50% GWAS-attributable heritability.
