Therefore, a straightforward disease-targeted drug delivery system is desirable. Based on the pathophysiological changes associated with IBD, novel site-specific targeted drug delivery strategies that deliver drugs directly to the inflammation sites can enhance drug accumulation and decrease side effects. This review summarizes novel inflammation targeted delivery systems in the management of IBD.
