Increased exposure to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) as a result of having an essential job is compounded by factors such as age, race, and ethnicity. We used a cross-sectional study design to describe disparities in the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin G (IgG) test results by demographic characteristics and clinical roles among a cohort of health care workers employed by the largest Midwestern health care system in the United States. We collected 16 233 SARS-CoV-2 IgG serum samples from June 8 through July 10, 2020, from a convenience sample of Illinois- and Wisconsin-based adult health care workers. The research team, in collaboration with ACL Laboratories, used a SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies. Study data included SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay results and demographic characteristics of workers (age, sex, race, ethnicity, clinical role, zip code). We generated crude and adjusted odds ratios (ORs) to describe disparities in seropreon efforts for people who are young, non-White, Hispanic, and working in COVID-19-clinical units. We performed a retrospective study of patients hospitalized in 2015-2016 at a tertiary care hospital in the Bronx, New York, during a period when prompts in the electronic health record facilitated screening for HIV and HCV among specified age cohorts. We compared proportions of patients eligible for screening for HIV and/or HCV who underwent screening and used generalized estimating equations and a meta-analytic weighted average to estimate an adjusted risk difference between undergoing HIV screening and undergoing HCV screening. Among 11 938 hospitalized patients eligible for HIV and/or HCV screening, 38.5% underwent screening for HIV and 59.1% underwent screening for HCV. The difference in screening rates persisted after adjusting for patient and admission characteristics (adjusted risk difference = 22.0%; 95% CI, 20.6%-23.4%). Whereas the requirement for consent was the only difference in the processes of screening for HIV compared with screening for HCV, differences in how the 2 viruses are perceived may also have contributed to the difference in screening rates. The Utah Study of Associated Risks of Stillbirth (SOARS) collects data about stillbirths that are not included in medical records or on fetal death certificates. We describe the design, methods, and survey response rate from the first year of SOARS. The Utah Department of Health identified all Utah women who experienced a stillbirth from June 1, 2018, through May 31, 2019, via fetal death certificates and invited them to participate in SOARS. The research team based the study protocol on the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System surveillance of women with live births and modified it to be sensitive to women's recent experience of a stillbirth. We used fetal death certificates to examine survey response rates overall and by maternal characteristics, gestational age of the fetus, and month in which the loss occurred. Public health education must respond to 21st-century public health challenges in an ever-evolving landscape. We describe implementation and educational outcomes of the Columbia University Master of Public Health (MPH) Core (hereinafter, Core) curriculum since its inception. This retrospective evaluation combined 6 years (2013-2018) of student survey data collected from students (N = 1902) on the structure and delivery of the Core curriculum to quantify implementation, student experience, and learning outcomes, both during study (Core Evaluation Survey [CES]) and after graduation (Graduate Exit Survey [GES]). We used χ tests and analysis of variance to compare outcomes across years, and we used McNemar tests to compare differences in outcomes from the same students at different time points. Of 1902 respondents to the CES, 1795 (94.4%) completed the Core curriculum. During the study period, 81.7% of students were able to integrate concepts across Core curriculum modules with ease; postgraduation, a simiciplinary work. An antibiogram is a summary of antibiotic susceptibility patterns for selected bacterial pathogens and antibiotics. The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Public Health Services (DPHS) sought to create an annual state antibiogram to monitor statewide antibiotic resistance trends, guide appropriate empiric antibiotic prescribing, and inform future statewide antibiotic stewardship. Through legislative authority, DPHS required hospital laboratories to report antibiogram data annually. DPHS convened an advisory group of infectious disease and pharmacy stakeholders and experts to develop a standardized reporting form for bacteria and antibiotic susceptibility, which was disseminated to all 26 hospitals in New Hampshire. We combined the reported data into a statewide antibiogram, and we created clinical messaging to highlight findings and promote rational antibiotic prescribing among health care providers. All hospital laboratories in New Hampshire submitted annual antibiogram data for 2016 and 2017, including more than 30 000 and 20 000 bacterial isolates recovered from urine and nonurine cultures, respectively, each year.
