The optimization of sperm cryopreservation protocols in ram is a feasible tool to reinforce artificial insemination technologies considering the desirable application of sperm by vaginal/cervical or transcervical deposition. Here, we review recent findings identifying key immune related genes that escape XCI and the relationship between gene dosage imbalance and functional responsiveness in female cells.In this study, to get a better understanding in characterizing groundwater and ensure its effective management, the radon concentrations in water samples were measured through Ryukyu limestone in southern Okinawa Island, Japan. Water samples were collected from a limestone cave (Gyokusendo cave, dropping water) and two springs (Ukinju and Komesu, spring water), and the radon concentrations were measured by liquid scintillation counters. The radon concentrations in the samples from the Gyokusendo cave, and Ukinju and Komesu springs were 10 ± 1.3 Bq L-1, 3.2 ± 1.0 Bq L-1, and 3.1 ± 1.1 Bq L-1, respectively. The radon concentrations showed a gradually increasing trend from summer to autumn and decreased during winter. The variation of radon concentrations in the dripping water sample from the Gyokusendo cave showed a lagged response to precipitation changes by approximately 2-3 months. The estimated radon concentrations in the dripping water sample were calculated with the measured radon concentrations from the dripping water obtained during the study period. Based on our results, groundwater in the Gyokusendo cave system was estimated to percolate through the Ryukyu limestone in 7-10 days, and the residence time of groundwater in the soil above Gyokusendo cave was estimated to be approximately 50-80 days. This work makes a valuable contribution to the understanding of groundwater processes in limestone aquifers, which is essential for ensuring groundwater sustainability. RT-PCR was used to evaluate mRNA expression and ELISA was used to measure protein expression of these genes. The level of gene expression for IL-17, IL-21, IL-23, and IL-35 was substantially higher in the group of patients with depression compared to the control group. The mean mRNA expression of Foxp3 was considerably reduced in patients suffering from depressive disorders. There was a statistically significant correlation between the number of hospitalizations and the expression of specific inflammatory factors. Expression of specific inflammatory genes may be a factor in the etiopathogenesis of depressive disorders. The duration of the disease seems to be more important for the expression of the genes in question than the severity of depression. Objectives The aim was to develop a universal pulse oximeter probe holder for measuring the oxygen saturation and to evaluate the use of pulse oximetry as a test for pulp vitality, by comparing the levels of oxygen saturation in the index finger and in the healthy dental pulp. Materials and Methods The universal holder was designed with software and printed with a 3D printer. The study was carried out on 128 healthy teeth. They were divided into eight groups according to tooth type. Ten root canal treated teeth served as a negative control group. For each patient, a pulse oximeter was first applied on the tooth followed by the index finger. The significance level (α) was set at 0.05. Results The developed and manufactured universal pulse oximeter probe holder was suitable to measure the pulp vitality of all types of teeth. The handle allowed for holding the pulse oximeter on the tooth in parallel, firmly and securely.
