Conjugate gaze deviation is associated with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), although previously only measured on a 2D plane. The current study evaluates 3D imaging efficacy to assess conjugate gaze deviation and correlate direction and strength of deviation to neuro-clinical findings.A retrospective analysis of 519 patients who had CT scans for suspected AIS at our institution. Direction and angle of eye deviation were calculated based on 2D axial images. Volumetric reconstruction of CT scans allowed for calculation of 3D conjugate gaze adjusted length (CGAL). Angle, direction, and vector strength of both 2D and 3D scans were calculated by an artificial intelligence algorithm and tested for agreement with hemispheric ischemia location. CGAL measurements were correlated to NIHSS scores. Follow up MRI data was used to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of CGAL in the identification of AIS.The final analysis included 122 patients. The early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer has been a research hotspot. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the correlations between the levels of carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), D-dimer (DDI), and fibrinogen degradation product (FDP) in patients with type II epithelial ovarian cancer.From January 2018 to January 2019, a total of 952 patients who underwent initial surgery for epithelial ovarian cancer were enrolled in this study. Peripheral venous blood was taken before operation, and the levels of CA125, HE4, DDI, and FDP were tested. The correlations between the levels of CA125, HE4, DDI, and FDP and other clinical indicators (such as presence or absence of chemotherapy, surgical conditions) were analyzed.The level of DDI or FDP was statistically associated with age, chemotherapy, Figo staging, surgical procedure, HE4 level, and CA125 level, respectively. Moreover, the Figo staging was statistically correlated with the levels of HE4 and CA125. Besides, we found the levels of CA125 and HE4 were positively correlated with the levels of DDI and FDP.The levels of CA125 and HE4 are the traditional detection indexes for patients with type II epithelial ovarian cancer, and these 2 indicators reflected the degree of disease and prognosis. Further larger-scale prospective cohort studies are warranted to determine these associations in the future.The aim of this study was to identify the main risk factors for health-care-associated infections (HAIs) following cardiac surgery and to establish an effective early warning model for HAIs to enable intervention in an earlier stage.In total, 2227 patients, including 222 patients with postoperative diagnosis of HAIs and 2005 patients with no-HAIs, were continuously enrolled in Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Beijing, China. Propensity score matching was used and 222 matched pairs were created. The risk factors were analyzed with the methods of univariate and multivariate logistic regression. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to test the accuracy of the HAIs early warning model.After propensity score matching, operation time, clamping time, intubation time, urinary catheter time, central venous catheter time, ≥3 blood transfusions, re-endotracheal intubation, length of hospital stay, and length of intensive care unit stay, still showed significant differences between the 2 groups. After logistic model analysis, the independent risk factors for HAIs were medium to high complexity, intubation time, urinary catheter time, and central venous catheter time. The ROC showed the area under curve was 0.985 (confidence interval 0.975-0.996). When the probability was 0.529, the model had the highest prediction rate, the corresponding sensitivity was 0.946, and the specificity was 0.968.According to the results, the early warning model containing medium to high complexity, intubation time, urinary catheter time, and central venous catheter time enables more accurate predictions and can be used to guide early intervention after pediatric cardiac surgery.The relationship between splenic volume and the outcome of chemoradiotherapy for lung cancer has rarely been studied or addressed. The purpose of our study was to investigate whether splenic volume was associated with prognosis in patients treated with chemoradiotherapy for advanced or locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).A retrospective investigation was conducted. Finally, 202 patients met the criteria and were included in the study. All patients were divided into 2 groups according to the optimum cutoff value of splenic volume for overall survival (OS). The optimum cutoff value was identified by X-tile software, and the OS and disease-free survival (DFS) were compared between the 2 groups of patients. The impact of splenic volume and other clinical characteristics on OS and DFS was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards model. Clinical characteristics were compared using chi-square or Fisher exact tests.The median (range) of splenic volume was 156.03 (28.55-828.11) cm. The optimal cutoff value of splenic volume was 288.4 cm. For univariate analyses, high splenic volume was associated with decreased OS (P = .025) and DFS (P = .044). In multivariate analyses, splenic volume remained an independent predictor of OS as a binary dependent variable (P = .003).Excessive splenic volume was associated with decreased OS and DFS in patients with NSCLC treated with chemoradiotherapy. Splenic volume should be regarded as an independent prognostic factor for patients treated with chemoradiotherapy for advanced or locally advanced NSCLC.
