Toward this aim, we compared pupillary response patterns in response to angry and fearful auditory stimuli among 99 adults, some with PTSD (n = 14), some trauma-exposed without PTSD (TE; n = 53), and some with no history of trauma exposure (CON; n = 32). We hypothesized that individuals with PTSD would show more pupillary response to angry and fearful auditory stimuli compared to those in the TE and CON groups. Among participants who had experienced a traumatic event, we explored the association between PTSD symptoms and pupillary response; contrary to our prediction, individuals with PTSD displayed the least pupillary response to fearful auditory stimuli compared those in the TE, B = -0.022, p = .077, and CON, B = -0.042, p = .002, groups, but they did not differ on angry auditory stimuli, B = 0.019, p = .118 and B = 0.006, p = .634, respectively. It is important to note that within-group analyses revealed that participants with PTSD differed significantly in their response to angry versus fearful stimuli, B = -0.032, p = .015. We also found a positive association between PTSD symptoms and pupillary response to angry stimuli. Our findings suggest that differential pupil response to anger and fear stimuli may be a promising way to understand emotional processing in PTSD. The Automated Fluorescent Immunoassay System ROTA (AFIAS-Rota) and NORO (AFIAS-Noro) assays (Boditech Med Inc.) are newly developed diagnostic tests for rotavirus and norovirus infections. Performance of AFIAS-Rota/Noro assays was evaluated in comparison with RIDASCREEN Rotavirus and Norovirus ELISA kits (R-Biopharm) using clinical stool samples submitted from November 2018 to January 2019. Multiplex real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used as reference method. A total of 256 clinical specimens were analyzed. AFIAS-Rota and RIDASCREEN Rotavirus had almost perfect agreement (Kappa value=0.95), and substantial agreement was observed between AFIAS-Noro and RIDASCREEN Norovirus (Kappa value=0.80). For detection of rotavirus, AFIAS and RIDASCREEN assays showed satisfactory diagnostic sensitivity (100% and 97.8%, respectively) and specificity (99.5% and 99.1%). Reactions of these donors are usually performed under pre-activation conditions, but an experimentally more convenient single-step protocol has also been reported, whereby activation is performed in the presence of the acceptor alcohol; yet, the nature and prevalence of the reaction intermediates formed in this more complex scenario have comparatively received minimal attention. Herein, a systematic NMR-based study employing both 13 C-labelled and unlabelled glycosyl sulfoxide donors for the detection and monitoring of marginally populated intermediates is reported. The results conclusively show that glycosyl triflates play a key role in these glycosylations despite the presence of the acceptor alcohol. Importantly, the formation of covalent donor/acceptor sulfonium adducts was identified as the main competing reaction, and thus a non-productive consumption of the acceptor that could limit the reaction yield was revealed. The goal of the current study was to investigate the impact of different computational models on I dosimetry prior to hyperthyroidism therapy. It was also aimed to highlight an accurate and cost-effective method for routine dosimetry of graves and toxic adenoma patients.
