Heplisav-B, a hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine with an immunostimulatory adjuvant, was FDA approved in 2017 for adults ≥18 years. In randomized controlled trials, Heplisav-B demonstrated seroprotection rates (SPR) of 90%-95% versus 65%-80% for Engerix-B. No studies have included people with HIV (PWH), and the SPR and its predictors in this population are unknown. Quaternary care center HIV clinic. This retrospective cohort study evaluated PWH aged ≥18 years without current HBV seroprotection (anti-HBV surface antibody level [anti-HBs] <10 mIU/mL) who were administered Heplisav-B. Patients without post-immunization titers were excluded. The primary outcome was the SPR, the proportion of participants with HBV seroprotection at any point after the first vaccination. Among 64 PWH included, median time to anti-HBs measurement after vaccination was 13 weeks. The median age was 58 years, 81% were men, and 95% had a viral load <200. The SPR was 81% in the entire cohort (and 86% in those without significant non-HIV immunosuppression), 79% in those with no prior HBV vaccination and no anti-HBc positivity, and 84% in those with prior vaccine nonresponse. Lower current and nadir CD4+ counts were associated with progressively lower seroprotection. Sexual relationships among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) are influenced by social, economic, and gender dynamics. Understanding AGYW's different relationship types and their implications for HIV risk is important for development of tailored interventions. We sought to identify relationship typologies among AGYW and their impact on uptake of HIV prevention interventions. From May 2018 to February 2019, 2200 HIV-negative AGYW (ages 16-24) in Johannesburg, South Africa, participated in an HIV prevention intervention involving distribution of HIV self-test kits to their male partners. AGYW were also offered pre-exposure prophylaxis. At baseline, AGYW completed a questionnaire, and outcomes were assessed for 3 months. We used latent class analysis to identify relationship types and mixture modeling to estimate the impact of relationship type on engagement in prevention interventions. We identified 3 relationship types "stable, empowered relationships with older partners" (class 1, n = 973); "shorter, empowered relationships with peer partners" (class 2, n = 1067); and "shorter relationships with risky partners" (class 3, n = 160). Compared with AGYW in class 1 relationships, AGYW in class 2 and 3 relationships were less likely to complete partner testing alongside HIV results sharing (class 2 adjusted risk ratio 0.89, 95% confidence interval 0.85 to 0.95; class 3 adjusted risk ratio 0.84, 95% confidence interval 0.73 to 0.94). Pre-exposure prophylaxis uptake was highest in class 3 (11.2%) compared with class 2 (3.8%) and class 1 (1.0%; P < 0.001). An area that merits further investigation is the relationship between bullying victimization, mental health problems, and ART nonadherence among adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV). However, no known studies assess effects of bullying on adolescent nonadherence or risk and protective factors that could moderate this relationship. This study investigates (1) the direct longitudinal relationship between bullying exposure and ART nonadherence, and the indirect relationship via psychological distress, and (2) potential risk and modifiable protective factors moderating these pathways, among vertically and horizontally infected ALHIV who initiated treatment across 53 public health care facilities in a South African health district. Survey data were collected at 2 time points, between 2014 and 2017, with 1046 ALHIV (94% retention). Various mediation and moderated mediation models were run as part of a staged analysis approach.
