As for the non-carcinogenic risks, there were a reduction of 5.78% and 12.28% for PM2.5 and PM10, respectively. Notably, the ecological risk of Pb was the highest; Cr and Zn contributed the most to carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk. Finally, to mitigate road dust pollution from an integration perspective, some preventive measures were proposed.Soil erosion threatens environmental sustainability worldwide. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/Decitabine.html Exploring the trajectories of soil erosion and associated drivers is of great significance for combating land degradation. This study selected the highly eroded Loess Plateau (LP) and Karst Plateau (KP) as contrasting regions to monitor soil erosion dynamics. Monitoring was performed by applying the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation based on a GIS platform and multi-source input data to investigate associated drivers. The results established that soil erosion in both regions was substantially reduced by ecological restoration projects and significant land use/cover conversions. Landscape and geomorphological variables were found to be the dominant factors controlling soil erosion in the LP and KP, as they influenced land use patches and geomorphological patterns, respectively. The correlations between fragmentation metric indices and soil erosion indicated that the appropriately intensive fragmentation in the LP could mitigate or prevent soil erosion by disturbing its formation and transportation and ultimately positively influenced soil erosion control. Geomorphological patterns were also determinative factors, particularly for the KP, where almost all geomorphological variables were significantly correlated with the erosion modulus. Owing to the peculiar landform and landscape conditions in karst areas and loess hilly-gully areas, geomorphological and landscape variables should be considered when determining the main factors affecting soil erosion processes and integrated into the forecasting model to improve the accuracy of the simulation. The findings of this study are expected to (i) improve the efficacy of soil erosion control and (ii) promote the sustainable planning and management of land and soil resources.Simultaneous observations (2014-2017) of organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) are made over a high-altitude site (Nainital, 29.4°N, 79.5°E, 1958 m a.m.s.l) in the central Himalayas, and the role of long-range transport, meteorology and biomass burning is studied. There are only a few online and simultaneous observations of OC and EC over South Asia and none in the high-altitude Himalayan region. This work presents the first diurnal variations with a unimodal pattern in both OC and EC at the Himalayan site. Such a diurnal pattern is in contrast with the bimodal pattern observed at any continental polluted site. Clear seasonal variations in OC and EC were seen with a primary maximum during spring and a secondary maximum in autumn/winter. OC and EC concentrations are observed to be as high as 65.8 μg/m3 and 12 μg/m3, in May, respectively. Concentration weighted trajectory (CWT)-assisted analysis shows that the biomass burning in northern India is one of the major sources for the springtime maximum even the atmospheric radiative forcing during the afternoon is about 70% higher than the forenoon one. It is envisaged that this dataset with diurnal observations of OC and EC would be an important input for studying the radiation budget and source apportionment over this high-altitude region.Water pollution by emerging pollutants such as pharmaceutical and personal care products is one of today's biggest challenges. The presence of these emerging contaminants in water has raised increasing concern due to their frequent appearance and persistence in the aquatic ecosystem and threat to health and safety. The antidiabetic drug glimepiride, GPD, is among these compounds, and it possesses adverse effects on human health if not carefully administered. Several conventional processes were proposed for the elimination of these persistent contaminants, and adsorption is among them. Therefore, in this study, the adsorptive removal of GPD from water using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) supported on silica was explored on a fixed-bed column. The effects of bed-height, solution pH, and flow rate on the adsorptive removal of GPD were investigated. The obtained adsorption parameters using Sips, Langmuir, and Freundlich models were used to investigate the continuous adsorption. The results showed that the drug removal is improved with the increasing bed height; however, it decreased with the flow rate. The effect of pH indicated that the adsorption is significantly affected and increased in acidic medium. The convection-dispersion model coupled with Freundlich isotherm was developed and used to describe the adsorption breakthrough curves. The maximum adsorption capacity (qm) was 275.3 mg/g, and the axial dispersion coefficients were ranged between 3.5 and 9.0 × 105 m2/s. The spent adsorbent was successfully regenerated at high pH by flushing with NaOH.For environmental management, the role of consumers is extremely important in the settings of reverse logistics. Though it is a manufacturer's extended responsibility to handle the waste however by becoming the supplier of the end of life products, consumers' participation needed to be encouraged and hence require proper attention. For the said purpose, the present study is conducted whereby crucial determinants of consumer reversing behavior were identified and analyzed by the help of a unique two-staged methodology of partial least square-structural equation modeling and artificial neural network. The data comprised of 746 collected by the survey from ICT users whereby the findings reported to have significant relationships of return intention and reversing behavior with their determinants. Moreover, the aforementioned unique methodology helps in generating more robust results as findings from ANN reported to have moral norm as most important variable which according to PLS-SEM was second most significant construct, whereas attitude was found to be second most important as per ANN which according to PLS-SEM is the most significant construct. Nevertheless, the study offers insights which contributes in the literature of environmental management, reverse logistics, and consumer behavior. Lastly, based on the findings, the managerial implications and recommendations are accordingly discussed.
