The formal training of a glazier typically takes about four years. It includes 144 hours of technical training and 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training. After the completion of the program Glaziers are considered to be journeymen and can perform independently. Journeymen with excellent mechanical skills, are adept at laying out materials and coordinating labor teams and have great people skills can be promoted to foremen.
