The diffusion of pentane blowing agent in VDC-MMA-AN copolymer microspheres were divided into Fick diffusion and non-Fick diffusion.In the present study, different amounts, i.e., 1-3 v/v% of 1 M ammonium phosphate monobasic, were used as an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor to mitigate the corrosion of steel rebar exposed to simulated concrete pore (SCP) + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution at a prolonged duration. Potentiodynamic polarization results show that as the amount of inhibitor is increased, the corrosion resistance of steel rebar is increased. The steel rebar exposed to 3% inhibitor-containing SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution exhibited nobler corrosion potential (Ecorr), the lowest corrosion current density (icorr), and 97.62% corrosion inhibition efficiency after 1 h of exposure. The steel rebars exposed to 3% inhibitor-containing SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution revealed higher polarization resistance (Rp) and film resistance (Ro) with exposure periods compared to other samples owing to the formation of passive film. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of steel rebar exposed to 3% inhibitor-containing SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution showed homogenous and uniform dendritic passive film which covers all over the surface, whereas, bare, i.e., SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution exposed samples exhibited pitting and irregular morphology. Raman spectroscopy results confirm the formation of goethite (α-FeOOH), maghemite (γ-Fe2O3), and iron phosphate (FePO4) as a passive film onto the steel rebar surface exposed to 3% inhibitor-containing SCP + 3.5 wt% NaCl solution. These phases are responsible for the corrosion mitigation of steel rebar which are very protective, adherent, and sparingly soluble.The rabies virus strain Komatsugawa (Koma), which was isolated from a dog in Tokyo in the 1940s before eradication of rabies in Japan in 1957, is known as the only existent Japanese field strain (street strain). Although this strain potentially provides a useful model to study rabies pathogenesis, little is known about its genetic and phenotypic properties. Notably, this strain underwent serial passages in rodents after isolation, indicating the possibility that it may have lost biological characteristics as a street strain. In this study, to evaluate the utility of the Koma strain for studying rabies pathogenesis, we examined the genetic properties and in vitro and in vivo phenotypes. Genome-wide genetic analyses showed that, consistent with previous findings from partial sequence analyses, the Koma strain is closely related to a Russian street strain within the Arctic-related phylogenetic clade. The virus infects human cells by binding of the virus spike to the cell receptor ACE2. The crystal structure of SARS-CoV-2 spikes in complex with human ACE2 has recently been solved, and the main amino acid residues involved in the virus-receptor complex have been detected. To investigate the affinity of ACE2 of lagomorphs to the SARS-CoV-2 spike, ACE2 sequences from rabbits and American pikas were compared with human ACE2 and with ACE2 from mammals with different susceptibility to the virus. Models of the complex formed by SARS-CoV-2 spike and ACE2 from lagomorphs and from other mammals were created for comparative studies. ACE2 of lagomorphs showed fewer substitutions than human ACE2 in residues involved in the ACE2-SARS-CoV-2 spike complex, similar to cats. Analysis of the binding interface of the simulated complexes ACE2-SARS-CoV-2 spike showed high affinity of the ACE2 of lagomorphs to the viral spike protein. These findings suggest that the spike of SARS-CoV-2 could bind the ACE2 receptor of lagomorphs, and future studies should investigate the role of lagomorphs in SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology. Furthermore, the risks to humans coming into close contacts with these animals should be evaluated.Resistive random access memories (RRAMs) are a type of resistive memory with two metal electrodes and a semi-insulating switching material in-between. As the persistent technology node downscaling continues in transistor technologies, RRAM designers also face similar device scaling challenges in simple cross-point arrays. For this reason, a cost-effective 3D vertical RRAM (VRRAM) structure which requires a single pivotal lithography step is attracting significant attention from both the scientific community and the industry. Integrating an extremely thin plane electrode to such a structure is a difficult but necessary step to enable high memory density. In addition, experimentally verifying and modeling such devices is an important step to designing RRAM arrays with a high noise margin, low resistive-capacitive (RC) delays, and stable switching characteristics. In this work, we conducted an electromagnetic analysis on a 3D vertical RRAM with atomically thin graphene electrodes and compared it with the conventional metal electrode. Based on the experimental device measurement results, we derived a theoretical basis and models for each VRRAM design that can be further utilized in the estimation of graphene-based 3D memory at the circuit and architecture levels. We concluded that a 71% increase in electromagnetic field strength was observed in a 0.3 nm thick graphene electrode when compared to a 5 nm thick metal electrode. Such an increase in the field led to much lower energy consumption and fluctuation range during RRAM switching. Due to unique graphene properties resulting in improved programming behavior, the graphene-based VRRAM can be a strong candidate for stacked storage devices in new memory computing platforms.
