V.ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Several species of Ferula L. genus have been used in traditional Turkish medicine as aphrodisiac to treat male sexual dysfunction. Especially, roots and oleo gum resin of F. elaeochytris Korovin, F. communis L., F. assa-foetida L. and F. gummosa Boiss. were claimed to be used for aphrodisiac activity, menstrual regulation and treatment of gastric pain in Anatolia. Ferula L. is represented by 23 taxa in Turkey, 13 of which are endemic species. F. huber-morathii Peşmen (FHM), an endemic plant, is popularly known as ''helizan, çağşır''. AIM OF THE STUDY This study aimed to isolate sesquiterpenoids from the roots of Ferula huber-morathii (FHM) and to confirm their aphrodisiac potential in male rats. MATERIAL AND METHODS In a preliminary experiment, the effects of aqueous (H2O) and chloroform (CHCl3) extracts of FHM were tested for their potential aphrodisiac activities in male rats. Then, sesquiterpene derivatives were isolated from the active chloroform extract of FHM roots (FHM-R)ats, thus suggesting that F. huber-morathii possesses an aphrodisiac activity. ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Zataria multiflora is an iranian valuable traditional plants, called Avishan Shirazi in Persian language used to reduce inflammation, spasm, pain, and cancer symptoms. Zataria essential oil (ZEO) is one of the essential oils possessing broad biological activities. AIM OF THE STUDY The aim was to investigate the anticancer effects of ZEO both in-vitro and in-vivo using mouse mammary carcinoma 4T1 cell line and mouse cervical cancer TC1 cell line. MATERIAL AND METHODS The in-vitro effects of ZEO on the proliferation of these cell lines were considered in 2D and 3D culture by MTT assay. In the following, to indicate death mode, fluorescence staining, AnnexinV/PI flowcytometry and caspase-3 activity assay of monolayer cells treated with ZEO was done. In order to evaluate the antitumor activities of ZEO, tumor-bearing BALB/c and C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally administered with ZEO and the immunomodulatory effects of ZEO were considered through cytokine assay. Additionally, hematobiochemical factors including aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were investigated to confirm the harmless effects of ZEO. RESULTS The In-vitro results showed that treatment of cells with ZEO leads to significant inhibition of 4T1 and TC1 cell proliferation and apoptosis in monolayer cell culture (2D) and multicellular spheroids (3D). Based on In-vivo results, ZEO was effective in decreasing the tumor weight compared to the control. Furthermore, ZEO was effective in tilting the balance of cytokines in favor of T helper 1 through the increase in the secretion of TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-2 and decrease in IL-4. During the treatment with ZEO, hematobiochemical factors of mice did not significantly change. CONCLUSION the present study demonstrated that the ZEO has potent antiproliferative, apoptosis-inducing and immune system stimulant properties in breast and cervical cancer. The increasing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics has motivated the interest in potent natural compounds capable of disrupting bacterial cell-to-cell communication. Such policies and practices, along with the direct impact of the spread of COVID-19, complicate issues of grief that are relevant to medical providers. We describe the relationship of the COVID-19 pandemic to anticipatory grief, disenfranchised grief, and complicated grief for individuals, families, and their providers. Furthermore, we provide discussion regarding countering this grief through communication, advance care planning, and self-care practices. We provide resources for health care providers, in addition to calling on palliative care providers to consider their own role as a resource to other specialties during this public health emergency. Trefoil factors 1, 2, and 3 (TFFs) are a family of small secretory molecules involved in the protection and repair of the gastrointestinal tract (GI). TFFs maintain and restore epithelial structural integrity via transducing key signaling pathways for epithelial cell migration, proliferation, and invasion. In recent years, TFFs have emerged as key players in the pathogenesis of multiple diseases, especially cancer. Initially recognized as tumor suppressors, emerging evidence demonstrates their key role in tumor progression and metastasis, extending their actions beyond protection. However, to date, a comprehensive understanding of TFFs' mechanism of action in tumor initiation, progression and metastasis remain obscure. The present review discusses the structural, functional and mechanistic implications of all three TFF family members in tumor progression and metastasis. Also, we have garnered information from studies on their structure and expression status in different organs, along with lessons from their specific knockout in mouse models.
