Given the branched-chain structure and high positive charge density of St-AD, it had a higher efficiency in treating real wastewater and organic-phosphorus-simulated wastewater than PAM and linear cationic St-CTA. These results may serve as references for the design and selection of a suitable flocculant in treating target wastewaters.Chitinases play crucial roles in enzymatic conversion of chitin and biocontrol of phytopathogenic fungi. Herein, a chitinase of glycoside hydrolase (GH) family 19, SaChiB, was cloned from Streptomyces alfalfae ACCC 40021 and expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The purified SaChiB displayed maximal activities at 45 °C and pH 8.0, and showed good stability up to 55 °C and in the range of pH 4.0-11.0, respectively. It exhibited substrate specificity towards chitin and chitooligosaccharides (degree of polymerization 3-6) with the endo-cleavage manner. In combination with the N-acetyl hexosaminidase SaHEX, it yielded a conversion rate of 95.2% from chitin powder to N-acetyl-D-glucosamine in 8 h and a product purity of >98.5%. Furthermore, the enzyme strongly inhibited the growth of tested pathogenic fungi. These results indicated that SaChiB has the great potential for applications in the conversion of raw chitinous waste in industries as well as the biocontrol of fungal diseases in agriculture.In this study, the graphene oxide surface was modified by grafting of nanocellulose and copper nanoparticles to promote the surface charge and adsorption efficiency for malachite green (MG). The structural and configurational properties of GO-CEL-Cu were verified by UV/Vis, SEM, TEM, EDX and FTIR spectroscopy and confirmed the electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding between GO, CEL and Cu-NPs. TEM images confirmed the deposition of Cu-NPs size between 24 and 37 nm on the GO surface. The uniform fine particles size makes strong interfacial interaction with GO sheets result in efficient load transfer from the matrix to the hybrid. The variable parameters such as adsorbent amount, MG concentration, pH, time and temperature were investigated to achieve optimum experimental condition. The experimental data was justified by Langmuir isotherm model with adsorption capacity for GO, GO-Cu, GO-CEL, GO-CEL-Cu as 127.3, 149.2, 156.8 and 207.1 mg/g, respectively. The spontaneity and endothermic nature of the process were confirmed by negative Gibbs free energy and followed the pseudo-second-order rate equation. Additionally, positive values of enthalpy and entropy suggesting endothermic process and increase randomness during process, respectively. Exacerbated expansion and activation of γδ T cells in the skin is a common feature of acute and chronic skin inflammation such as psoriasis and contact or atopic dermatitis. Different γδ T-cell subsets showing differential developmental and functional features are found in mouse and human skin. This review discusses the state of the art of research and future perspectives about the role of the different subsets of γδ T-cells detected in the skin in steady-state, psoriasis, dermatitis, infection, and malignant skin diseases. Also, we highlight the differences between human and mouse γδ T cells in skin homeostasis and inflammation, as understanding the differential role of each subtype of skin γδ T cells will improve the discovery of new therapies.Stressful events during early-life are risk factors for psychiatric disorders. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is implicated in psychosis pathophysiology and deficits in BDNF mRNA in animal models of psychiatric disease are reported. DNA methylation can control gene expression and may be influenced by environmental factors such as early-life stress. We investigated BDNF methylation in first-episode psychosis (FEP) patients (n = 58), their unaffected siblings (n = 29) and community-based controls (n = 59), each of whom completed the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ); BDNF methylation was also tested in male Wistar rats housed isolated or grouped from weaning. Trials show that weight loss interventions improve biomarkers of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but it is unclear if a dose-response relationship exists. We aimed to quantify the dose-response relationship between the magnitude of weight loss and improvements in NAFLD. Nine databases and trial registries were searched until October 2020. Single-arm, non-randomized comparative, or randomized trials of weight loss interventions (behavioral weight loss programs [BWLPs], pharmacotherapy, or bariatric surgery) in people with NAFLD were eligible for inclusion if they reported an association between changes in weight and changes in blood, radiological, or histological biomarkers of liver disease. The review followed Cochrane methods and the risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Pooled unstandardized b coefficients were calculated using random-effect meta-analyses. Forty-three studies (BWMPs 26, pharmacotherapy 9, surgery 8) with 2809 participants were included. The median follow-up was 6 (interquartile range 6) months.
