Thus, 58 herbalists in the region were surveyed to gather ethnomedical information about the plants used in natural remedies preparation. The expression of the data obtained was achieved through the calculation of different quantitative indices, such as use value (UV), family use value (FUV), relative frequency of citation (RFC), fidelity level (FL), informant consensus factor (ICF) and plant part value (PPV). 29 plants were inventoried, among which, Ruta montana L. has the highest use value (UV) and fidelity level (FL) for the treatment of gingivitis, respectively, 0.431 and 43.10. Marrubium vulgare L. has the highest citation frequency (RFC = 0.448). Whereas, Ammi visnaga (L.) Lam. had the highest value of the informant consensus factor (ICF = 0.846) as the most used species for the treatment of high number of oral pathologies and dental abscesses. Furthermore, the leaves generally prepared by decoction and administered by gargle constitute the most used part of the plant (PPV = 54.05). But, several plants recommended for the treatment of oral diseases are dangerous; in fact, Marrubium vulgare L., Atractylis gummifera L., Anacyclus pyrethrum L., Ruta montana L. and Peganum harmala L. were reported to be toxic by all the respondents. So, in spite of the virtues of medicinal plants, the toxic potential of some of them requires great vigilance in their therapeutic use.Populations of the Ganges river dolphin (Platanista gangetica gangetica) are endangered, with ~3500 individuals estimated worldwide. Threats to this precarious population is exacerbated by accidental entanglement and illegal hunting for oil, which is used in bait fisheries and traditional medicine. Alternatives to dolphin oil have been proposed and extensively promoted in India, to curb the immediate threat to dolphin populations. However, it is not known whether dolphins are still being poached for oil, despite the proposal of aforementioned alternatives. Herein, a molecular protocol to monitor the presence of Dolphin DNA, using species identification of DNA extracted from bait oils obtained from fishermen is presented. This is coupled with information from social surveys to understand the current status of use of dolphin oil. Results indicate that molecular tools provide an accurate technique for detecting the presence of dolphin DNA, and can be used by enforcement agencies to monitor and identify points of threat to dolphins. Social survey results indicate the preference of fishermen to continue the use of dolphin oil for bait, despite knowing the legal implications. It is found that alternate oils do not provide an effective solution to curb dolphin oil use, and only shifts the threats of endangerment from one species to another, in the long run. The ban of bait fishing, effective enforcement combined with monitoring through molecular tools, continued community engagement and livelihood skill development are the most viable solutions for a holistic conservation approach.In recent years, the flipped classroom has been proposed as an alternative paradigm of teaching, and has been demonstrated to improve the students' knowledge and skills, engagement, and self-efficacy. At the same time, as the number of students seeking higher education is growing and the needs of these students are rapidly evolving, it has become necessary to improve their cognitive holding power and enhance equity among them. The goal of this study is to investigate the impact of the flipped classroom on improving the students' cognitive holding power and enhancing equity. Outside the class, video files and Google applications (Word, PPT, Drive) were used for delivering learning materials. WhatsApp was used for communication and Google form was used for designing learning activities and assessment. The results of the study indicate (1) to some extent flipped classroom can be a solution for improving students' cognitive holding power, especially in performing learning tasks and following teacher' instructions. (2) Equity among the students can be enhanced in the flipped classroom. Moreover, if there exists a density point of both A and A c , then the set of such points has a positive Lebesgue measure.Untreated industrial effluents have often caused environmental pollution and human health concern. This study analyzed the pollution of wastewater from some selected industries in the Sabata town of Ethiopia. The composite sampling techniques were used to collect wastewater from industries in dry (April-May) and wet (June-July) seasons and analyzed physicochemical properties using atomic absorption spectrophotometry. All parameters investigated were analyzed using mean and Analysis of Variance. The results depicted that the conductivity, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, and pH were all beyond the safe limits of World Health Organization along the studied Sabata River and industries. This indicates pollution of the water that not apt for drinking, farming, and industrial uses. Furthermore, the electrical conductivity, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solid, total nitrogen, and total phosphorus were statistically significant (p less then 0.05), which indicates the disruption of river water quality by industrial effluents.
