To report the impact of dose and tumor volume metrics at brachytherapy on outcomes for locally advanced cervical cancer treated with tandem and ovoids intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy. FIGO stage IB1-IIIB locally advanced cervical cancer treated with intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy via a tandem and ovoids hybrid applicator were analyzed. Median high-risk clinical target volume (HR-CTV), rate of tumor volume reduction, EQD D , organ at risk doses, and outcomes were recorded. Univariable and multivariable Cox regression was applied for survival analysis, and logistic regression was used for toxicity analysis. Seventy-one patients were identified. Median follow-up was 24.9 months, with a 2-year local control of 83.6%, loco-regional control of 72.0%, and overall survival of 88.6%. The American Brachytherapy Association is attempting to develop standards for delivering brachytherapy, although differences in practice have been reported in the literature. This study evaluated vaginal cuff brachytherapy (VBT) practice and quality of life-related recommendations among Turkish radiation oncologists. A nationwide web-based 17-item survey was distributed to the members of the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology. These members received e-mail notifications, and a link was posted on the Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology internet site to solicit voluntary responses The survey addressed the simulation processes, target volume, prescribed dose, delivery schedules, and recommendations related to vaginal side effects. Fifty-seven radiation oncologists responded to the survey. The most used dose fraction schemes for adjuvant VBT were 7 Gy × 3 fractions (30%), 5.5 Gy × 5 fractions (26%), and 6 Gy × 5 fractions (28%). The preferred VBT scheme was 5 Gy × 3 fractions (50%) when the external tandardization is necessary. To verify the dose sparing effect of hydrogel spacer (SpaceOAR™) on rectal dosimetry for prostate brachytherapy, and to determine whether prostate and rectal dosimetry was affected by the time gap between hydrogel spacer injection and brachytherapy dosimetry. The Pd brachytherapy dosimetry of 174 consecutive intermediate- and high-risk patients injected with hydrogel was compared with a dosimetry of 174 contemporaneous patients without hydrogel injections. Of the SpaceOAR™ patients, 91 had hydrogel injected upon completion of brachytherapy implant, while the remaining 83 patients had hydrogel placed prior to external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), followed 2-10 weeks later by brachytherapy. Brachytherapy implants were either planned with the prostate undistorted by any hydrogel or planned with hydrogel in place. Dosimetry of the prostate and tissues at risk was determined from CT imaging on the day of brachytherapy implant. To compare brachytherapy (BT) boost of low-dose-rate (LDR) and high-dose-rate (HDR) techniques in patients diagnosed with intermediate-risk prostate cancer. Between January 2005 and February 2018, 142 patients (50 LDR and 92 HDR) with intermediate-risk prostate cancer were treated with a BT boost, and retrospectively analyzed. Prescribed dose was 45 Gy with external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) plus 100-108 Gy with LDR-BT, and 60 Gy with EBRT plus one fraction of 10 Gy with HDR-BT. 99% of patients received androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for 6 months. Primary endpoint was to compare LDR and HDR boosts in terms of biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS). Secondary endpoint, after re-classifying patients into "favorable" and "unfavorable" sub-groups, was to analyze differences with a similar treatment intensity. Median overall follow-up for the total cohort was 66.5 months (range, 16-185 months). There were no significant differences in bPFS, overall survival, cause specific survival, local failure, ld HDR approaches and very low toxicities. Importantly, the current literature has indicated that unfavorable-risk patients belong to a different category, and should be treated as patients with high-risk factors. Therefore, the stratification and identification of both risk groups is extremely relevant. Brachytherapy with iodine-125 ( I) has been extensively used as a conservative treatment for uveal melanoma (UM). Surgical technique for correct placement of episcleral radioactive plaques (ERP) in UM cases with posterior choroidal location and/or small size can be difficult and inaccurate. In this study, the correct positioning of plaques was assessed by intra-operative ultrasound control. This was a longitudinal, retrospective study of consecutive 20 patients with UM (small-medium size and/or posterior location) who received I brachytherapy. Location of plaques was adjusted by intra-operative ocular ultrasonography control. To perform ocular intra-operative ultrasonography, a 10 MHz probe was used to longitudinal and transverse bases in corresponding dummy plaques. The study included 8 males and 12 females, with a mean age of 66.3 years (SD = 14.53), 5 right eyes (RE) and 15 left eyes (LE). In ultrasound examination, 4 UMs were of mushroom morphology and the rest nodular. Means of the size of UM bysotope chosen and the location of tumor mass, in order to perfectly adjust therapeutic position. The aim of this study was to analyze regression rates and local control of uveal melanoma patients treated with iodine-125 I) brachytherapy based on initial tumor apical height. Patients treated in a single institution from January 1 , 1996 to 2019 with I plaques (ROPES and COMS) for uveal melanoma were included in this study. Patients treated with brachytherapy for iris and those treated with transpupillary thermotherapy prior to brachytherapy were excluded. The sample was classified into 4 categories depending on initial apical tumor height (h ), i.e., h ≤ 2.5 (small), 2.5 < h ≤ 6.25 (small-medium), 6.25 < h ≤ 10 (medium-large), and h > 10 mm (large). Percentage of original tumor apical height (Δh) was collected during follow-ups. Patterns of regression were evaluated using linear least squares adjustments. Multivariable Cox regression were performed. In total, 305 patients met the inclusion criteria, and 27, 166, 100, and 13 were considered for small, small-medium, medium-large, and large categories, respectively.
