Results Pediatric CI recipients experienced significant SRM when the masker was directed to the normal-hearing ear or to the affected ear. These results are consistent with improved functional communication in multisource environments, like classrooms.Purpose The brainstem dysfunction in multiple sclerosis (MS) often causes significant functional impairment leading to disability. This study aims to explore modified brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) scores based on the pattern of BAEP abnormalities and relate with brainstem symptoms, brainstem functional system scores (BFSS), brainstem lesions, and disability. Method Forty-five participants with relapsing-remitting MS and 45 age- and gender-matched healthy controls underwent case history assessment, otoscopic examination, pure-tone audiometry, and BAEP testing. Also, neurological examination (Expanded Disability Status Scale, FSS scales) and magnetic resonance imaging were carried out on MS participants. Patterns of BAEP abnormalities were categorized and converted to BAEP scores. Results Out of 45 participants' brainstem symptoms, BFSS > 1, brainstem lesions (magnetic resonance imaging), and BAEP abnormalities were observed in 75.6%, 42.2%, 62.2%, and 55.56% of participants, respectively. Waves V and III abnormalities were more common among MS participants and showed a significant difference from the control group in the Mann-Whitney U test. Chi-square test did not show a significant association of BAEP abnormalities with brainstem symptoms and lesions but showed significant association with BFSS. The mean and standard deviation of BAEP scores in MS participants were 1.73 + 2.37. All healthy controls showed BAEP scores of 0. BAEP scores in MS participants showed significant correlation with BFSS scores and predict Expanded Disability Status Scale scores. Conclusion BAEP scores based on the pattern of BAEP abnormality can be a valid and useful measure in evaluating brainstem functions and predicting disability in MS.Purpose Speech-language pathologists are responsible for providing culturally and linguistically responsive early language intervention services for legal, ethical, and economic reasons. Yet, speech-language pathologists face challenges in meeting this directive when children are from racial, ethnic, or linguistic backgrounds that differ from their own. Guidance is needed to support adaptation of evidence-based interventions to account for children's home culture(s) and language(s). This review article (a) describes a systematic review of the adaptation processes applied in early language interventions delivered to culturally and linguistically diverse populations in the current literature and (b) offers a robust example of an adaptation of an early language intervention for families of Spanish-speaking Mexican immigrant origin. Method Thirty-three studies of early language interventions adapted for culturally and linguistically diverse children ages 6 years and younger were reviewed. As an important regulator, microRNA (miRNA) plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression, including in disease immunity. To understand the role of miRNA in immune response to CDV vaccination, we investigated the miRNA expression profile in five giant panda cubs after two inoculations, 21 days apart. A total of 187 conserved miRNAs and 96 novel miRNAs were identified. Integrated analysis of miRNA-messenger RNA (mRNA) found 20 negatively regulated miRNA-mRNA pairs, where downregulated miR-204 might enhance giant panda cub innate immunity by increasing TLR6 expression, and downregulated miR-330 might activate macrophages and regulate the immune response by increasing TMEM106A expression. Our research provides key information for future development to enhance the immune response of giant pandas and potentially improve the survival of captive and wild giant panda populations threatened by CD. The prognostic and predictive value of intrinsic subtypes in hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative advanced breast cancer treated with endocrine therapy and ribociclib (RIB) is currently unknown. We evaluated the association of intrinsic subtypes with progression-free survival (PFS) in the MONALEESA trials. A retrospective and exploratory PAM50-based analysis of tumor samples from the phase III MONALEESA-2, MONALEESA-3, and MONALEESA-7 trials was undertaken. The prognostic relationship of PAM50-based subtypes with PFS and risk of disease progression by subtype and treatment were evaluated using a multivariable Cox proportional hazards model, adjusting for age, prior chemotherapy, performance status, visceral disease, bone-only metastases, histological grade, number of metastatic sites, prior endocrine therapy, and de novo metastatic disease. Overall, 1,160 tumors from the RIB (n = 672) and placebo (n = 488) cohorts were robustly profiled. Subtype distribution was lt for basal-like.
