Work-limiting disability appears to modify children's economic opportunity. This contributes to the understanding of disparate access to opportunity in the United States while also identifying economic disadvantages associated with disability for subsequent generations.In this study, the asymmetric Granger causality relationship between tourist arrivals and world pandemic uncertainty index is examined by controlling inflation, consumer confidence index, and industrial production for the period 2000M1 and 2020M1 in Italy. To the best of our knowledge, the current study is one of the few studies to investigate the relationship between tourist arrivals and world pandemic uncertainty in an asymmetric framework. The empirical results show that using the Granger causality test in a linear framework causes bias results due to misspecification. Therefore, the study relies on asymmetric Granger causality test results which reveal that the positive shock of world pandemic uncertainty Granger causes a negative shock of tourist arrivals. It is suggested that international tourist arrivals are sensitive to external shocks such as pandemics and in such instances the government of the concerned country can insulate the tourism-service and hospitality industry against the shocks by developing strategies to promote full information between all stakeholders.We study dynamical optimal transport metrics between density matrices associated to symmetric Dirichlet forms on finite-dimensional C ∗ -algebras. Our setting covers arbitrary skew-derivations and it provides a unified framework that simultaneously generalizes recently constructed transport metrics for Markov chains, Lindblad equations, and the Fermi Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroup. We develop a non-nommutative differential calculus that allows us to obtain non-commutative Ricci curvature bounds, logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, transport-entropy inequalities, and spectral gap estimates.We report herein a new series of synthesized N-substituted-2-quinolonylacetohydrazides aiming to evaluate their activity towards SARS-CoV-2. In a pre-registered longitudinal study of Americans (N = 233) spanning April 2019 to May 2020, we tested whether the pandemic altered beliefs about the extent to which poverty is caused by external forces and internal dispositions and support for economic inequality. Over this timespan, participants revealed a shift in their attributions for poverty, reporting that poverty is more strongly impacted by external-situational causes and less by internal-dispositional causes. However, we did not detect an overall mean-level change in opposition to inequality or support for government intervention. Instead, only for those who most strongly recognized the negative impact of COVID-19 did changes in poverty attributions translate to decreased support for inequality, and increased support for government intervention to help the poor.Copper electrodeposition processes for filling metallized through-hole (TH) and through-silicon vias (TSV) depend on spatially selective breakdown of a co-adsorbed polyether-chloride adlayer within the recessed surface features. In this work, a co-adsorption-dependent suppression model that has previously captured experimental observations of localized Cu deposition in TSV is used to explore filling of TH features. Simulations of potentiodynamic and galvanostatic TH filling are presented. An appropriate applied potential or current localizes deposition to the middle of the TH. Subsequent deposition proceeds most rapidly in the radial direction leading to sidewall impingement at the via center creating two blind vias. The growth front then evolves primarily toward the two via openings to completely fill the TH in a manner analogous to TSV filling. Applied potentials, or currents, that are overly reducing result in metal ion depletion within the via and void formation. Simulations in larger TH features (i.e., diameter = 85 μm instead of 10 μm) indicate that lateral diffusional gradients within the via can lead to fluctuations between active and passive deposition along the metal/electrolyte interface.The emerging paradigm shift from 'one molecule, one target, for one disease' towards 'multi-targeted small molecules' has paved an ingenious pathway in drug discovery in recent years. On stiff substrates, nanosheet vdW films are stable to many common stresses, but can fail by internal delamination under shear stress associated with handling or abrasion. This "re-exfoliation" pathway is an intrinsic feature of stacked vdW films and can limit nanosheet-based technologies. Here we investigate the shear stability of graphene oxide and MoSe2 nanosheet vdW films through lap shear experiments on polymer-nanosheet-polymer laminates. These sandwich laminate structures fail in mixed cohesive and interfacial mode with critical shear forces from 40 - 140 kPa and fracture energies ranging from 0.2 - 6 J/m2.
