KGaA, Weinheim.Hybridizing graphene and molecules possess a high potential for developing materials for new applications. However, new methods to characterize such hybrids must be developed. Herein, we present the wet-chemical non-covalent functionalization of graphene with cationic π-systems and characterize the interaction between graphene and the molecules in detail. A series of tricationic benzimidazolium salts with various steric demand and counterions was synthesized, characterized and used for the fabrication of graphene hybrids. Subsequently, the doping effects were studied. The molecules are adsorbed onto graphene and studied by Raman spectroscopy, XPS as well as ToF-SIMS. The charged π-systems show a p-doping effect on the underlying graphene. Consequently, the tricationic molecules are reduced via a partial electron transfer process from graphene, a process which is accompanied by the loss of counterions. DFT calculations support this hypothesis and the strong p-doping could be confirmed in fabricated monolayer graphene/hybride FET devices. The results are the basis to develop sensor applications, which are based on analyte/molecule interactions and effects on doping. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. With recent efforts to find effective non-opioid analgesics, ketamine has surfaced as a potential option for ED analgesia.1-3 While ketamine is typically used as a sedative agent, several studies have shown that when it is administered in sub-dissociative doses, both as a stand-alone agent and as an adjunct to opioids, it may also provide analgesia.4 Two recently published meta-analyses compared ketamine with opioid analgesics in adult ED patients with acute pain. Despite this growth, the profession of genetic counseling has remained demographically homogenous. Promoting a culture of inclusivity that supports visible and invisible diversity and leveraging that culture not only expands perspectives represented in the field, but also helps foster equity in genetic services. This report summarizes the formation, implementation, and outcomes of the 2019 Diversity and Inclusion Task Force (TF) of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC), including the group's responses to their allotted charges from the NSGC Board of Directors. The recommendations generated by the TF aim to aid in the (1) establishment of infrastructure for ongoing diversity, inclusion, and equity (DEI) work by collaborating with a DEI organizational expert and forming a DEI advisory group within the NSGC, (2) development of specific short-term DEI initiatives, and (3) identification of seven areas of focus areas that must be addressed in order to create meaningful and measurable DEI improvements. The efficacy of these recommendations will depend on the consistency and creativity of implementation, shared responsibility, sufficient resources allocated to DEI initiatives, and measurable outcomes. © 2020 National Society of Genetic Counselors.INTRODUCTION Accurate identification of slow conducting regions in patients with scar-related atrial tachycardia (AT) is difficult using conventional electrogram annotation for cardiac electroanatomic mapping (EAM). Estimating delays between neighboring mapping sites is a potential option for activation map computation. We describe our initial experience with CARTO 3 Coherent Mapping (Biosense Webster Inc,) in the ablation of complex ATs. METHODS Twenty patients (58 ± 10 y/o, 15 males) with complex ATs were included. We created three-dimensional EAMs using CARTO 3 system with CONFIDENSE and a high-resolution mapping catheter (Biosense Webster Inc). Local activation time and coherent maps were used to aid in the identification of conduction isthmus (CI) and focal origin sites. System-defined slow or nonconducting zones and CI, defined by concealed entrainment (postpacing interval less then 20 ms), CV less then 0.3 m/s and local fractionated electrograms were evaluated. RESULTS Twenty-six complex ATs were mapped (mean 1.3 ± 0.7 maps/pt; 4 focal, 22 isthmus-dependent). Coherent mapping was better in identifying CI/breakout sites where ablation terminated the tachycardia (96.2% vs 69.2%; P = .010) and identified significantly more CI (mean/chamber 2.0 ± 1.1 vs 1.0 ± 0.7; P less then .001) with narrower width (19.8 ± 10.5 vs 43.0 ± 23.9 mm; P less then .001) than conventional mapping. Ablation at origin and CI sites was successful in 25 (96.2%) with long-term recurrence in 25%. CONCLUSIONS Coherent mapping with conduction velocity vectors derived from adjacent mapping sites significantly improved the identification of CI sites in scar-related ATs with isthmus-dependent re-entry better than conventional mapping. It may be used in conjunction with conventional mapping strategies to facilitate recognition of slow conduction areas and critical sites that are important targets of ablation. © 2020 The Authors. OBJECTIVE The aim of the present study is to evaluate any correlation between HLA-DRB1 alleles and Rh and Kell alloantibodies. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty-two non-responders (control) and 54 responders (case) were enrolled in this study. Alloantibody detection was performed using the tube method. Genotyping of HLA-DRB1*01 and HLA-DRB1*15 was conducted by single-specific primer-polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS In the responder group, 77.8% were hyper-responders (more than one alloantibody), and only 22.2% were mono-responders.
