https://evolutionkr.kr/ The Academy's Evolution Site The concept of biological evolution is a fundamental concept in biology. The Academies are committed to helping those who are interested in science understand evolution theory and how it is permeated throughout all fields of scientific research. This site provides teachers, students and general readers with a range of learning resources on evolution. It contains the most important video clips from NOVA and WGBH-produced science programs on DVD. Tree of Life The Tree of Life, an ancient symbol, symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life. It is an emblem of love and unity across many cultures. It has many practical applications as well, such as providing a framework to understand the evolution of species and how they respond to changes in environmental conditions. Early attempts to describe the world of biology were based on categorizing organisms based on their metabolic and physical characteristics. These methods, which rely on sampling of different parts of living organisms or on sequences of small fragments of their DNA significantly expanded the diversity that could be included in the tree of life2. However, these trees are largely comprised of eukaryotes, and bacterial diversity remains vastly underrepresented3,4. By avoiding the necessity for direct experimentation and observation genetic techniques have allowed us to represent the Tree of Life in a more precise manner. We can construct trees by using molecular methods, such as the small-subunit ribosomal gene. The Tree of Life has been dramatically expanded through genome sequencing. However there is a lot of diversity to be discovered. This is particularly true for microorganisms, which can be difficult to cultivate and are usually only represented in a single specimen5. of all genomes has produced an unfinished draft of the Tree of Life. This includes a wide range of bacteria, archaea and other organisms that have not yet been identified or the diversit
